Covid
Civil Unrest
I think that Democrats will choose Covid, while the Rs - Civil Unrest.
So far Covid wins but, from my limited experience, he has more Democrats viewers, based on previous surveys.
But I suppose the BLM supporters may choose Civil Unrest..

(2,271 posts)Actually, I think Smerconish is more of a Republican than a Democrat. I know he tries hard to demonstrate neutrality, but after watching him for years I think hes really a moderate republican.

(47,486 posts)Last week the survey was whether Biden's acceptance speech put to rest any doubt about his mental ability - or something like that - and I think that 80% said YES.

Hopefully, I'll be able to explain clearly what I mean by that.
With an "open" question such as that, you may be getting two polar opposite reasonings giving you the same "yes" answer.
First, you can get the "yes" from those who believe his speech solidified the confidence of the respondent, and this is an straight affirmative answer.
HOWEVER, you may also get "yes" answer to this from respondents who feel that Joe's speech solidified a negative impression about him, but the question answer would still be "yes", as in "yes, my doubt is put to rest and his speech tells me he's a terrible candidate".
Thus, that survey question has the ability to be both positive and negative, and answers nothing. I've noticed over time that a lot of Smerconish's surveys contain the same flaw.

(47,486 posts)with the help of the Republican controlled legislature that continuously is tying the Democratic governor's hands.
And now, I am afraid that Minnesota will be lost, too.

(10,830 posts)The Republicans have decided civil unrest is their best strategy, the whole Law&Order meme, to pound the Biden/Harris ticket. Protestors are now being referred to as 'thugs.' Vigilantes like Rittenhouse are labeled 'heroes.'
Be afraid, be very afraid is the ongoing motto.
Dems need to repeat endlessly that this is Trump's America, where racial injustice and police brutality are on the rise, where vigilantism = lawlessness and--like Covid-19--this is all happening on Trump's watch. The bodies are piling up.
We are at war.

(13,186 posts)I think the Dems should be on the offensive, both on civil unrest and on COVID. Trump handed political success to racism, causing civil unrest, and biological success to COVID-19, causing many tens of thousands of excess deaths (so far). We need to build back better, just like our slogan says.

(35,441 posts)Covid affects everyone. When you have to pull your kid out of school at minute's notice because of outbreaks, you're not going to be concerned about protests in Portland. Civil unrest is only in a few places despite Fox News' b-roll.
