General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsWhat do you guys know about Don Winslow?
I think he's put out some effective videos, and he definitely has a presence on the twitter machine. He's tweeted more than a couple of times that he has damning (paraphrasing) information on Graham and others and talks about it coming out. I think in at least one tweet he mentioned October.
I know very little about him. Is he credible or is he full of it? I'd loved to hear feedback from well-informed DU'ers.
Thank you!

(28,394 posts)He writes books about Mexican cartels and California surfer culture. He is a good writer, imo. I think he is credible in the anti-Trump work he is doing, as well.

(25,862 posts)information but they are going to release it later on. Why wait? If you have damning information, let it loose.
It seems as though over the years of my life every single time I come up against something like this ("I know something and I'll tell you at some indefinite point in the future" ) there is NEVER a release of that supposed information.
Not that I know anything about this guy, just going on experience and skepticism.

(8,053 posts)That really bothers me as well.
In fact, I responded to the tweet about Graham and asked him to release the info now! (Which as far as I can tell he didn't).
Thanks you for your feedback.

(6,687 posts)She's what, 15 or 16? She's struggling. There are plenty of ways to condemn the mother without adding additional pain to the kid.
He's someone my 24 yr old grand niece said I should follow when she hooked me up in Twitter. He seems to shoot straight but I don't know his background. I think if he does have anything with legs he'll wait until the 11th hour and see how many voters he can pick off.

(8,053 posts)I know a little bit about the Conway's daughter wanting to be emancipated but I don't know anything about Don Winslow's involvement.
Well, maybe he said he has some damaging intel.
Thanks for your feedback.....

(2,399 posts)especially "The Border" and "Power of the Dog".. long books.. show an amazing knowledge of the drug cartels. NOT bedtime stories for the kiddies.
He was a private detective and an arson investigator.
I tend to believe him.
We shall see.
Of course.. NO bombshell revelation will stir the trump fans, so Winslow could have the pee tapes, and the trumpers would cheer the amount of pee trump puts out.

(14,565 posts)That's the problem with his videos. He doesn't seem to realize that one major point is more memorable and effective

(8,053 posts)I know what you mean about his videos. Having said that, I've been impressed by some of them. Thanks for your input

(8,053 posts)I've heard he's a really good author but I've haven't read any of his books. Was he a private detective and an arson investigator in real life or were those the protagonists in his book?
I know what you mean about the hardcore dt supporters. My thoughts are that his supporters are either:
Cult members belonging to the cult of dt
Born with a difficult, unkind, hateful, or ill-tempered nature
Incredibly angry people who are energized by dt's horrific actions
Thanks for the input that you're apt to believe him. That's what I'm trying to get a handle on.

(2,399 posts)"Winslow's career as an investigator often took him to California to look into arson cases, as his storytelling skills helped explain cases to juries."
"In the late 1970s, Winslow returned to New York City, first working as manager of a chain of movie theaters, then as a private investigator in movie theaters and the back alleys of Times Square. He returned to school to earn a master's degree in Military History, led safaris in Kenya and hiking trips in China's Sichuan province."

(32,626 posts)and liked them. I think his head and heart are in the right place, and give anybody credit for putting themselves out there, for the purpose of neutering the Republican party.

(8,053 posts)I also give him a lot of credit for his efforts. I just know so little about him that I wonder if he really has intel or he's just saying he does... Thanks for your input...
