John Bolton blasts Trump for making 'a complete mess' of US coronavirus pandemic response

Former National Security Adviser John Bolton slammed President Donald Trump for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic, saying that the White House bungled the response, leading to "one mistake after another."

"They've made a complete mess of it, and it's been a tragedy for Americans, those who have died and their families, the economic consequences," Bolton said Wednesday on CNN.

"To this day, the administration does not have a coronavirus strategy. Now, they may yet get the benefit of it. Recent polls apparently show concern with the virus diminishing as a political matter, so they may be able to tough their way through it. But it's just been one mistake after another."

Trump has repeatedly downplayed the severity of the coronavirus, even as health officials appointed by him sang a different tune and warned Americans to employ protective measures. The president at times also dismissed or contradicted guidance from health officials, including White House coronavirus advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci.

It would have been nice to have your help during the impeachment. Probably wouldn't have made a difference, but you could have done something to stop Trump, and you didn't.

You can pound sand throughout eternity for all I care.

that were outright breaking the law while he was IN SERVICE to trump, but didn't have a spine to come out and expose the crap, wanted to make money off a book instead. bolton was full-in on the trump crazy, until it even got too crazy for him. bolton can go straight to hell. Same with every trump person who had the chance to speak before the trump shit got neck deep, but decided to remain anonymous or waited until they could sell a damn book.

Top White House official in charge of pandemic response exits abruptly - May 10, 2018

The top White House official responsible for leading the U.S. response in the event of a deadly pandemic has left the administration, and the global health security team he oversaw has been disbanded under a reorganization by national security adviser John Bolton.

The abrupt departure of Rear Adm. Timothy Ziemer from the National Security Council means no senior administration official is now focused solely on global health security. Ziemer’s departure, along with the breakup of his team, comes at a time when many experts say the country is already underprepared for the increasing risks of a pandemic or bioterrorism attack. [snip]

The personnel changes, which Morrison and others characterize as a downgrading of global health security, are part of Bolton’s previously announced plans to streamline the NSC. Two members of Ziemer's team have been merged into a unit in charge of weapons of mass destruction, and another official's position is now part of a unit responsible for international organizations. White House homeland security adviser Tom Bossert, who had called for a comprehensive biodefense strategy against pandemics and biological attacks, is out completely. He left the day after Bolton took over last month. [snip]

“It seems to actively unlearn the lessons we learned through very hard experience over the last 15 years,” said Konyndyk, now a senior policy fellow at the Center for Global Development. “These moves make us materially less safe. It’s inexplicable.”

Shame on Business Insider for forgetting this. If a random citizen can remember, they certainly should.
