Can we please stop over-reacting to everything in the news? Esp. cable news?

Cable news rotates stories that generate ratings. That does not mean that these stories are important to Americans or voters. These stories are there to generate viewers and violent clashes are top ratings getters.

People are suffering all over this country from the pandemic and horrible response of the Trump administration to it. Not making that the top issue of this campaign does more damage to the Democrats than protestors in Portland, something that the Democratic candidates have zero control over.

And if I am wrong and Trump pulls off a victory by exploiting the protestors and small, violent clashes in two American cities, then we have much, much, much bigger problems in this nation. It will be a sign that we are heading to a civil war.

The "OMG, we're doomed!!11" and "Joe and Kamala need to do this NOW!!11" crap I've seen here over the last few days is just tiring.

Really people. Get a grip.

I understand people being concerned but this chicken little stuff is annoying and not productive. The threads about the number of yard signs, protests and polls are not helping. This is a long race and overreacting to everything won't help and is what Trump and his DEPLORABLES want. We need to take this energy and donate to our candidates and make sure we get people registered to vote.

4. It does prove how the media is effective at creating anxiety

And how that anxiety is addictive. People want Joe to Kenosha. People want Joe to go to Portland. People want Joe to wave his hand and stop the protests.

IOW, people want Joe to react to Trump's campaign strategy instead of dealing with the biggest issue that the voters truly care about. The pandemic.

pandemic incompetence, the Senate report on Russia, etc. Not saying that the USPS wasn't important, but it took up most of the medias' time and accounted for more threads here than CV19, Russian interference, racism, etc.

We need to stay focused.

6. Whether it is the handling of the pandemic, the incitement of violence by trump into the protests,

or a dozen other issues, the Biden campaign is actively pointing out that this is Trump’s America, and the problems we have today are because of trump

Starting this week and until the election that message is going to be pounded in everyday

Trump owns the disasters he created

wreak on the mind. Out of the blue, someone will proclaim something or another is going to be {insert name}'s undoing. This someone is really smart, and it floors me when arguments heat up over...nothing. Absolutely nothing. It isn't real, but...it might be! Mark my words....life will go on, until it doesn't. Just float.

"The second quarter was a good one for Fox News—and cable news in general—with viewership up across the board. Fox News finished first with a total audience in prime time of 3.574 million viewers, followed by MSNBC (1.999 million viewers) and CNN (1.806 million). "

So with a population of about 330 million in the USA and 7.4 million nightly viewers in a "good" quarter, that's about 2.2% of the population that is actually watching nightly cable news.
