WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)In a withering critique of his own voters, Donald J. Trump on Thursday blasted supporters who plan to vote for him only once.
Speaking to reporters, Trump called supporters who intend to cast only one vote for him disgracefully low-energy, claiming that they are like Jeb Bush and Sleepy Joe put together.
I like supporters who have stamina, he said. Stamina means you keep voting for me until someone tells you to stop.
He said that voters should vote for him once by mail, again in person, and maybe even more than that.
Lets say you vote in person, he said. Go away, put a mustache or wig on, and try to vote again.
Asked about the legality of Trumps suggestions, Attorney General Bill Barr said, As Attorney General, I try to stay out of things involving laws.

(32,017 posts)We have no idea how many, but I have no doubt that some people will try (and almost certainly fail) to vote twice just because Trump suggested it.
The only question is whether they should be prosecuted for following the Presidents advice.

(32,017 posts)Its definitely a crime, and it can be prosecuted. That doesnt mean that such crimes WILL be prosecuted. I would think it would be harder to get a conviction if the defendant argued, I was just doing what the President told me to do.

Ignorance of the law is no excuse.

(32,017 posts)... what are you gonna do? And 1,000 is, perhaps, a low number. At that point, the nation will have spoken, Biden will be the President-elect, and none of these yahoos will have voted twice (thats how they got caughtthey tried to vote twice and the system identified them as double-voters).
I dont know. If I am the DA (or the US Attorney), I am likely to say no harm, no foul and focus my limited prosecutorial resources elsewhere.

(25,861 posts)that would be all the reason to prosecute.
However, I'm not a DA.

(205,467 posts)Like so much of what Trump says and does, not any public official could have possibly gotten away with such a statement!
