Trump Blasts Supporters Who Plan to Vote for Him Only Once

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—In a withering critique of his own voters, Donald J. Trump on Thursday blasted supporters who plan to vote for him only once.

Speaking to reporters, Trump called supporters who intend to cast only one vote for him “disgracefully low-energy,” claiming that they are “like Jeb Bush and Sleepy Joe put together.”

“I like supporters who have stamina,” he said. “Stamina means you keep voting for me until someone tells you to stop.”

He said that voters should vote for him once by mail, again in person, and “maybe even more than that.”

“Let’s say you vote in person,” he said. “Go away, put a mustache or wig on, and try to vote again.”

Asked about the legality of Trump’s suggestions, Attorney General Bill Barr said, “As Attorney General, I try to stay out of things involving laws.”

We have no idea how many, but I have no doubt that some people will try (and almost certainly fail) to vote twice just because Trump suggested it.

The only question is whether they should be prosecuted for following the President’s advice.

They snowed an example of a woman who tried it on Ari Melber's show tonight.

It’s definitely a crime, and it can be prosecuted. That doesn’t mean that such crimes WILL be prosecuted. I would think it would be harder to get a conviction if the defendant argued, “I was just doing what the President told me to do.”

Doing something illegal just because someone told you to do it cuts no ice with me.

Ignorance of the law is no excuse.

... what are you gonna do? And 1,000 is, perhaps, a low number. At that point, the nation will have spoken, Biden will be the President-elect, and none of these yahoos will have voted twice (that’s how they got caught—they tried to vote twice and the system identified them as double-voters).

I don’t know. If I am the DA (or the US Attorney), I am likely to say “no harm, no foul” and focus my limited prosecutorial resources elsewhere.

that would be all the reason to prosecute.

However, I'm not a DA.

Like so much of what Trump says and does, not any public official could have possibly gotten away with such a statement!
