If Trump has served any purpose it is to show how many holes there are in the constitution. Up until now the constitution has been treated with respect by past presidents, but now with Trump's actions, it seems that the whole thing probably needs to be re-written.

are elected to the House, the Senate, the Presidency and appointed to the Supreme Court. The founders didn't expect to have enough scoundrels ensconced in all of the above to attempt a coup so didn't put in appropriate guardrails against such a possibility.

The only possible way out is if the American people elect enough Democrats to give them control in the House and the Senate as well as electing Biden as President. If that happens, changes can be made in Congress to ensure this appalling coup attempt cannot happen again, imo.

If this wasn't explicitly factored into the equation, and the past 4 years are stark evidence it was not, the OP is absolutely correct, our beautiful sacred Constitution could potentially fail us. I've heard many times over the past 4 years, the best remedy is the power of the vote. That's not comforting. That's dangerous. That's slow. That's enough time to not only undermine Americans and the Constitution, but also time enough to fuck with the vote. Fascists love the slow roll of due process. They love to keep appealing and appealing until it's too late to exact justice. It helps them to stay 100 steps ahead of us.
