DOSE OF JOE -- Sep 8

Friends -- see below for today's Dose of Joe.

Joe Biden traveled to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania where he joined a virtual event from the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO headquarters to speak with AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, take questions from union members, and recognize America’s working families on Labor Day. You can watch HERE.

Kamala Harris toured an International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) training facility and spoke with IBEW members and Wisconsin labor leaders. Later, Senator Harris attended a “Build Back Better” roundtable with Black Milwaukee business owners to discuss how a Biden-Harris administration would advance racial equity as part of our nation’s economic recovery

A number of Labor Day op-eds by Vice President Biden, Senator Harris, and national and local labor leaders published yesterday in national and key local outlets, including Joe Biden and AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Senator Kamala Harris and AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer Elizabeth Shuler in The Detroit News, Senator Elizabeth Warren for Cosmopolitan Magazine and National Farmworkers Association Co-Founder Dolores Huerta for Univision.

The Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA), the National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE), and the International Union of Elevator Constructors (IUEC) came out in support of Joe Biden for President. As reported in the Associated Press, all three unions represent hundreds of thousands of workers nationwide who can be mobilized to support the campaign in battleground states.

A recent CBS poll contests amid protests, more think Biden is seen by more as trying to calm the situation, while the President is perceived by slightly more as encouraging fighting, rather than calming things down.

JOE’S SOCIAL MEDIA TO AMPLIFY

TWITTER

@JoeBiden: As president, I’ll make record investments in American industry and create millions of good-paying, union jobs. We’re going to make sure the future is made in America — and built by union workers.

@JoeBiden: It's not enough to just thank our essential workers — we need to pay them. As president, I’ll:

- Raise the minimum wage to $15
- End the tipped minimum wage
- End the sub-minimum wage for people with disabilities
- Ensure everyone has strong benefits

@JoeBiden: Together, we can build a future that reflects working people’s courage and ambition. One that not only offers good jobs — but the dignity, equity, shared prosperity, and common purpose due to every American.
