1. Look for "balance" this week from MSM.

Sep 2012

After the shellacking Rmoney took last week, look for the corporate mainstream media to try and be "fair and balanced" this week.

They'll feel like that have to give the Obama campaign plenty of criticism to balance out all the negative developments in the Rmoney campaign last week.

Of course, they also want to keep the horse race drama going as long as possible.

However, by weeks end the horse race will freeze in anticipation of the debate next Tuesday.

17. The senate also had a vacant seat.

Upchuck Toad should well know that Al Franken was embroiled in a Bush/Gore-style recount and therefore wasn't seated until July 2009.

Add that to the 60 votes needed to break the GOP fillibusters for virtually everything in the senate, and Obama couldn't get anything passed into law without first getting the few remaining moderate Republicans on board.

Hell, the whole reason Obama had to water down the Health Care bill was to get it passed Sen. Snowe.

Mr. Toad should know that the Health Care debate would NOT have taken so damned long if Obama had both houses of Congress in his pocket; it would have been passed before spring and would have been a SINGLE PAYER plan, which was Obama's preference from the beginning.

framing. I think Castro might be a serious candidate for president in 12 years or so. He needs to get out of Texas and establish himself in a state where he can get more national exposure at higher levels of government (like a governorship).

administration. Get him domestic policy and foreign policy experience over the next 8 years through two administrations (possible VP for 2016?).

I don't think carpet bagging is the correct approach. Could he win election as a Representative?

Could Texas change enough in 6-8 years to make a run for governor/senator?

VP is quickest path to presidency. He is very young so he has plenty of time.

Would HUD Sec work for Obama's second administration? How about an undersecretary position in HHS, Defense, or State (something that allows growth to Sec position in one of these three departments). While he has a JD degree, does a position in Justice make sense?

He should serve out his current term as Mayor (I hate to see candidates leave positions early). May 2013 would be a perfect time to fill one of Obama's cabinet/undersecretary positions.

13. The media is losing its fight to keep the election close, and its driving them crazy.

When Romney didn't get a convention bump, they claimed it was because everyone was already locked to either Obama or Romney. Then when Obama gets a bump, they claim it was only because he went 2nd, and so it would not last.

Then it lasted. Then Mitts dismisses the 47%.

And now the media sees the close race slipping away. And its killing little Chuck.

16. "News" on TV Main Stream Media is a joke
Mon Sep 24, 2012, 10:43 AM
Sep 2012

The news should help inform and educate Americans. Instead it is a propaganda tool for corporate America to spew things like the crap that dribbles from Chuck Todd's lips.

When retired army general Barry McGaffrey exclaimed "Thank God for the Abram tank..." on MSNBC we weren't told he was also a paid shill for the MIC:

....

NBC News has yet to disclose those or other involvements that give McCaffrey a vested interest in Operation Iraqi Freedom. McCaffrey, who commanded an infantry division in the Gulf War, is now on the board of Mitretek, Veritas Capital and two Veritas companies, Raytheon Aerospace and Integrated Defense Technologies--all of which have multimillion-dollar government defense contracts. Despite that, IDT is floundering--its stock price has fallen by half since March 2002--a situation that one stock analyst says war could remedy. Since IDT is a specialist in tank upgrades, the company stands to benefit significantly from a massive ground war. McCaffrey has recently emerged as the most outspoken military critic of Rumsfeld's approach to the war, but his primary complaint is that "armor and artillery don't count" enough. In McCaffrey's recent MSNBC commentary, he exclaimed enthusiastically, "Thank God for the Abrams tank and... the Bradley fighting vehicle," and added for good measure that the "war isn't over until we've got a tank sitting on top of Saddam's bunker." In March alone, IDT received more than $14 million worth of contracts relating to Abrams and Bradley machinery parts and support hardware.

The MSM never let me know that America was the only industrialized nation without Universal healthcare. Michael Moore's Sicko did:

The News needs to be independent, vetted, and verified. Instead it is owned, controlled, and manipulated to serve the purposes of wealthy corporate interests.
