I just hate to see this wonderful cartoon go. The cartoonist is ill and just cannot continue.
The little characters in this strip were so wonderful. And so was the whole family. Petey and Alice and their parents - and all the other children in Miss Bliiss's preschool.
Hopefully they will put out a book with all of the cartoons.
Thank you Richard Thompson for a wonderful cartoon that I looked forward to every morning.

(47,675 posts)I was really sad when Calvin & Hobbes ended. Same with Bloom County and For Better or For Worse, although both are in re-run mode. April was born at home three weeks before our first daughter was born at home. I can't say I was sad to see Cathy go - rather redundant theme. The Far Side is another loss, but Close to Home, Rubes, Flying McCoys, and Strange Brew sort of fill in that gap.

I also love Pigs Before Swine (Love ti, Love it)
Zits
Baby Blues
Stone Soup
I get a paper every morning mainly to see the comics. News is too depressing.

(47,675 posts)I think my favorite of all is Funky Winkerbean. He's a minor character now, but the strip lives on. For that matter, Barney Google rarely appears in Snuffy's strip anymore (but did make a week-long cameo a few months back). I prefer the strips that allow the characters to age. Beetle's still funny, but nobody gets any older. Same with Hi & Lois. Jeremy in Zits is just an older Calvin (which has been alluded to on a number of occasions).
Oh, and today's Pearls Before Swine was REALLY disturbing.

The one I just don't get is Zippy the Pinhead. I read it every day and every day I don't get it. I don't think I'm up enough on pop culture - or something.
