At the end of the day, even Republicans who can't stand Trump will not resist selling their fucking soul to jam another dickhead activist reich-winger on there.

(10,014 posts)to vote for him anyway. That was proven in 2016.

(25,183 posts)all the Republicans who did not vote for Trump in 2016, because they believed the polling that said that Hillary would win. Believe me, they'll be out in force this time around, and aren't going to mess with third party candidates.

(4,846 posts)Even if you hate Trump or the republican senator, you will hold your nose for the chance for the 6-3 SC. I think this just changed the race.

(13,776 posts)I see your point, and the apparent logic concerns me too, but targeted advertising could make it clear to fencesitters that they'll get their SC justice no matter who wins the presidency and/or the senate.
Plus it was already pretty clear that RBG wouldn't last another four years. She was an absolute superhero, but she wasn't immortal, and we all realized it. Anybody voting because of the SC would have already made their decision; I hope there won't be too many extra Trump voters coming out of the woodwork.

(26,757 posts)It could hurt him as well... but he wasn't very likely to win so any change is less likely to hurt.
Could make a bigger deal in the senate
orwell
(7,775 posts)...is already voting for "asshole."
This will change nothing.
In fact, if he tries to seat a Con Judge before the election it could backfire on him as his main attraction to evangelicals will be gone.
In some ways, if the Cons actually repeal Roe I think they could LOSE evangelical support. There is nothing that keep the rollers in line more than Roe.
Needless to say Don the Con certainly doesn't exhibit "family values"...
