Okay, so once I'm asleep I sleep through anything, including earthquakes, but still, 4.8 is hardly a BIG EARTHQUAKE. Really. A little perspective is nice.

(25,873 posts)had a magnitude of 9.2. And the shaking lasted nearly five full minutes. Now that's a BIG EARTHQUAKE.
While I've only ever been in the one earthquake/aftershock that I slept through, I've long been fascinated by them. The book On Shaky Ground by John Nance is an excellent place to start.

And it's not my fault that Mother Nature decided to echo my writing.
