bullshit is still trendy. I have a decades-long habit of visiting this website, but it's purely hate-reading now. Not even Russian trolls are doing this sort of nonsense anymore, it's too obvious.
The Fearless Girl Wall Street statue is a "corporate feminist avatar," "a literal sponcon for Wall St., commissioned by an investment firm to advocate for more women executives in finance."

RBG's image as "benevolent matriarch ... was never in step with reality." "Ginsberg espoused incremental change and dutiful compromise ... a path to stagnation rather than lasting change."

Ru Paul wins an Emmy and in his acceptance speech urges people to vote. Jezebel turns this into a Susan Sarandon-type nutty anti-fracking attack. "Both the Democratic former Vice President and Republican incumbent Donald Trump are vocal supporters of the environmentally destructive method of resource-extration that Ru's apparently been profiting off of for years."

Like "The Producers," trying to go out of business? Hardly any comments on the site anymore, and most correcting the ignorance of the "writers" on the site. What a shame.

(101,392 posts)It says RBG was better than the corporation who paid for the statue of the girl.
The second mentions John Lewis (approvingly), and that's as close as it gets to Democrats. It says that a feminist like RBG in the Supreme Court was not enough; that a faulty election system needs fixing, and people would then need to use it to implement change.
The third is an attack on RuPaul for owning a ranch on which he gets money for fracking. The link with Democrats is that Biden is not going to ban fracking. That's mentioned, but the article is not mainly about Democrats (or Republicans), and there's no "Democrats are worse" implication.
Why do you think being anti-fracking is "nutty"? It's a responsible environmental stance. It is annoying that Biden said "I am not banning fracking. Let me say that again: I am not banning fracking". If you think that any website must toe the Democratic presidential candidate line 100%, you're being ridiculous (I bet I could find a Democratic politician who says "I want to ban fracking" .

(25,714 posts)The writer said "I find this all horrible tiresome."
muriel_volestrangler
(101,392 posts)and its action. Maybe you should read Jezebel more closely before slagging it off:
I find all of this horribly tiresome. The statue doesnt represent any meaningful contribution to feminism, nor is it a meaningful tribute to Ginsburg. In a way though, it is fitting: Just as some people would like to see Fearless Girl as a straightforward representation girl power, so do they wish to think of Ginsburg and her legacy as being purely inspiring and uncomplicated.

Shall we move on to link number 2?

(101,392 posts)I don't think you'll get very far if you just deny what's in front of your own eyes. You'd look more convincing if you tried to make an argument, rather than just contradicting things.

(101,392 posts)Because that's what the paragraph before that sentence is about. "This" means "what I have just written about".

(36,907 posts)I read the first article and couldn't figure out what the beef was, so I didn't bother with the others.
I still like 'Fearless Girl', but I also can see the issue the author of the article raises.
Just putting this here... Kamala Harris is against fracking, as well as Inslee, Booker, Warren, etc.

But Russian? Not everything we dislike is Russian. Its gotten to the weird conspiracy area at this point. I expect in a month, New York Times? Totally Russian. And someone will trace out why.

(4,995 posts)Here is the next sentence, too:
What they find tiresome is taking something which is just a corporate attempt to look feminist without actually being feminist and then trying to turn that into a Ginsburg tribute. That is what is tiresome. Do you disagree? Why?

(42,021 posts)One of the things feminism does is promote equality, or rather, at least level the playing field. Pretending Wall Street isnt relevant To women or cant be changed To better womens lives.. as it cant be immediately eradicated...(or whatever the goal, I dont understand people who refuse to accept here and now reality) is kinda dumb.
I havent been reading Jezebel lately, maybe they got a new crew in.
I know one thing though. At one time, they knew those assholes who refused to support and actively tore down Hillary Clinton were, in fact Disgusting Assholes, (and do continue to be)
We screamed Supreme Court as loud and as long as we could. We failed.
And now the price is paid.

Jezebel is just an online rag with a bunch of opinions. They kinda lost credibility a while back. I think the OP is saying they have moved into actively destructive territory. I quit reading them too, so I dont know
