I sure hope he’s ok. I have family in Japan, and I know their numbers have been low, but I still worry constantly.

7. Are they requiring him to be in a hospital ? It could be they want to monitor

in the hospital to keep it under control. I would think it could afford much better treatment if the symptoms get worse. They'll catch the fever going up or whatever and use whatever treatment/s they have found most effective. And I bet his owing a small fortune isn't part of the plan.

9. I had a "mild" case too. My fever spiked to 103 and 104 each day before it all ended.

Is he having respiratory symptoms? My doctor told me at the time that if my breathing became compromised that would be when hospitalization would be recommended.

It never did, and I rode it out at home. It was awful, never been that sick. I’m much older than your nephew; there must be a reason they’ve hospitalized him.

Wishing him a speedy recovery.

super-careful monitoring to make certain their symptoms don't worsen without some kind of therapeutic intervention.
