My girlfriend, for the first time in her life, registered to vote. We have been together over a year, and when we first got together she had no interest in politics at all. At 36, she has had half of her life to vote. But she never cared enough to try. But I have finally convinced her what is at stake. As a woman, a lesbian, and most importantly as an American citizen. She finally gets it. AND she has started looking at DU every so once in awhile.
I feel like this is so important. When people are trying to disenfranchise voters, we need to reach out to the people that are complacent but don't have an issue with gaining voter registration. Do these voter id laws need to get overturned? Hell yes. But in case they are not before the election, the people that need to register are those with the "proper" requirements. We have to keep sending out the message.

(2,715 posts)Mead's pretty easy, cordials take a lot of work (but a good blackberry-quince cordial is oh so worth it...)
They made me a bottle of their version of tully dew, when I started dating, and later married, a lady they approved of. (Family can be SO hard to acomodate...)

(979 posts)I have a friend that brews excellent beer. But it really is hard on a small time budget. My brother and he have talked about brewing on my family's land, but we shall see what comes of it. Personally, I feel like we should grow grapes for wine, but it just takes so long :/

(2,715 posts)that reminds me... I have to set aside a store of wine, when my family comes over for the celebrations...
I'm finishing up another grad degree.

(979 posts)What is your new grad degree in? I have a master's but I feel like I could have done better, only because my Master's of Liberal Arts in Management is not looked at as an MBA even though I took the same classes for the most part. :/
