Nope. For the first time, they sounded like DU.

(17,988 posts)Called it a S*** show right after. Jake tapper was disgusted.
They are now talking about Trump going off at Hunter when Biden was talking about Beau, his dead Son! Trump is filth.

(6,844 posts)They devolved into the milquetoast review they are today in an exuberance of self-preservative caution. And still, they have been the best source of unleavened information about complex issues for the general public. It is refreshing to know that publicly broadcast information, unbeholden to misinformation, may have returned and can be found on the free airwaves.

(86,775 posts)Due to sNewty G. and his contract on america. Can't have free speech or anything so kill all public broadcasting because, objectivity and they don't make money. That's when CPB, Corporation for Public Broadcasting. They were forced to incorporate to continue to exist. It all went downhill from there.
They still are better than most other news sources and I still listen much of the time, I don't have a tee vee and I like a variety of music that can't be found elsewhere. Perhaps we can make an appeal to return support from the government in the near future.

(6,844 posts)That's the bell weather I'm looking for. As immaterial as it sounds it would actually signal an end to the reign of "conservative" terror, the beginnings of which you so correctly ascribe to Newt.
My soul weeps at the current state of civilization when I imagine what could/should have been, without all the wasted years turned to decades.

(32,086 posts)But, they had to slip in a few jabs against Biden, and they let Chris Christie lie his ass off, although they did have Rahm Emanuel on to counter him. Rahm did a good job. George Stephanopoulos DID lay into Trump for his behavior, though. I'll give him that.

(15,552 posts)I didn't watch any of the shitshow last night and certainly won't watch any of them, if there are any more after what I've read. They absolutely need to be cancelled because there was no semblance of "debate" whatsoever. It's like trying to debate a three-year old.
Any new outlet that is taking the big stretch to say Biden was equally at fault doesn't deserve my time. However, my not watching is no loss to their ratings since I watch little to no TV news. I don't have cable but I do have an antenna and get a handful of stations. From what I've seen, other than the PBS stations I receive, I'm not missing much. I don't have to hear all those prescription drug ads either.

(21,586 posts)I agree with an earlier post that some NPR programming still gives comprehensive coverage of issues. But they spent a few days after Amy Barrett's nomination glowing over her and singing her praises, with conservative guests.
I often leave it on in the background when I'm busy doing something and can't stop to watch TV coverage. I used to like On Point for its investigative coverage but now I put on music when it's on because of Mehgna Chakrabarti's persistent both siderism, which she claims is giving an objective voice, but allows RW callers and guests to make their talking points with very little or no challenges when they are factually off the rails.
When a news item or program mentions Koch Industries, NPR mentions that Koch is one of their financial backers.
During the week of the Dem convention, Mary Louise Kelly on All Things Considered kept putting down the convention as "well choreographed" as a Dem advertisement, but lacking substance. Well, Hell's bells, a political convention is SUPPOSED to advertise the party and its positions.
The only NPR programs worthwhile anymore, IMO, are Terri Grosse on Fresh Air, Ira Glass on This American Life, the hourly news, Ted Talk, the food and travel shows, and the entertaining programs like Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me.
