Once people hear the truth/facts, their story falls apart. So they make it as confusing as possible for anyone to understand. Plus, some people will think "both sides are bad" while it's mainly one side doing the talking over.

But yeah. I know what you mean.

That said, it's actually an anti-debate strategy.

The point is to try to turn it into an argument without a meaningful exchange of ideas and fact, so they can win it with volume and quantity of words and generally preventing the other side from making their case.

There was at least one study in social psychology that revealed that to a certain, and not unsubstantial segment of the population, that being wrong and confident, was more appealing that being correct, and being polite.

Something that is seen in the debate between a religious view of explaining phenomena and a scientific explanation, is that religious people are wrong on the facts but completely convinced that they are correct and thus speak confidently, while the very nature of science precludes 100% certainty. There is a lot of nuance and "we don't know for sure right now but confidence and consensus is building" Some people like "wrong and strong" more than right buy not 100% certain.

Conservatives/Republicans are not trying to win over the majority. The leaders are actually smart enough to understand that they cannot. Their policies are bad for the majority of people. To Republicans/Conservatives, it is about keeping their base activated and suppressing or depressing turnout for the majority of the people. They have carved out districts where to win, Democrats have to win by double digits. In national races like Senate and President, they work toward keeping just enough of the Democratic and Independent vote down, to win the EC and Statewide contests.

Liberal men are held to a different standard than conservative men, but you are 100% on the fact that women standing their ground, even in appropriate ways, is often seen as a negative.

One of the reasons Hillary Clinton did not "resonate" with White Men in particular and Men in general, was that she was assertive, and was very competent and capable of defending herself and articulating her goals and needs. She was seen as shrill, and emasculating, etc... which is often the response to women who speak out. Add to that being a woman of color, and you have the perfect storm of Sexism and racism to make the picture complete.

You have a lot of Black people and Latinos who buy into the bigoted ideas about Black and Latino people too. It is difficult not to when media, culture, and society are saturated with those narratives.

They think whoever talks the fastest, the angriest, and the loudest - must be right.

It's stupid, I know, but that's what Chump and his staffers count on. Fooling enough of the people, enough of the time. Other than that, they don't care.

When media has a guest jerk who refuses to allow for discourse and just machine guns their talking points that rudely, cut 'em off with, "I'm not Chris Wallace. Thank you, buhbye!" and go on to something else. It would be a great way to put a stop to the gish gallop, or at least stop tolerating it.

It is just a weapon, with which to attack your opponent. If Biden was a young 50 year old in excellent health and of completely sound mind (like Joe Biden is of sound mind), there would be some other lie that Trump would make up to tar that him with. The reason it was so effective with Hillary Clinton, is that the right wing had been making shit up about her for more than 30 years. Plus the sexism that is inherent in our society. Biden has been mostly a benign entity in politics. Everyone likes Joe, even if they disagree with him. Trump has not real legitimate avenue of attack on Biden.

He's demented?
He's a puppet of the Radical Left?
He's corrupt?

I mean, who is this idiot talking about. To be sure, there are legitimate criticisms of Joe Biden, but the three above are simply ridiculous.
