(51,626 posts)I have voted in every election (federal and local) since, and every time I voted it was straight Dem down ballot.
Happy Birthday, Jimmy!

(6,932 posts)Spotless in character like Obama, folksy like Reagan, smart like Clinton, Jimmy Carter was the perfect antidote for 1976. After the 1972 McGovern loss, Carter gave Democrats And the world hope again.
That was his specialtyhe was a bigger thinker than all of them, as evidenced by him installing solar panels on the White House in the 1970s.
He was playing chess while they were playing checkers. When oil cartels withheld oil as a weapon, Carter simply responded with U.S. tax credits for insulation and solar panels. Americans used less energy.
A few years later oil demand had been crippled and oil cartels were finished forever.

(269,157 posts)I was watching the fires in California and thinking that if its former governor (that jackass Reagan) had continued with the push for solar energy led by Carter, California might not be suffering like this. Instead Reagan tore down the solar panels from the WH.
Meanwhile Carter's solar infrastructure covers half of his town.
Jimmy Carter is one of the most decent persons on the planet.
