I know we are supposed to lower expectations for the debate but Romney is hardly a great debater. Beating clowns like Rick Santorum , Ron Paul, and Herman Cain doesn't mean you're a great debater. It just means you beat a bunch of clowns in a debate.

(13,992 posts)is to destroy the POTUS in the debates. To reduce Obama to a stuttering, quivering mass.
We all know (and I think Mitt knows) that's not going to happen. And having seen Mittens in the "debates" during the primaries and having seen Obama v. McCain, my money is that it's going to happen the other way around. Mitt is going to get flustered, and then offended by the audacious black man standing between him and his just reward.

(2,140 posts)Puts me in mind of a saying my Grandpa used,a lot.....Cream floats to the top,but so does a turd..In this case we are absolutely talking about a turd...Two if one includes Lyan Ryan...I look for both to be utterly humiliated in their respective upcoming debates..I also look for both to be oblivious to that reality, after the fact....Turds....

But you just gotta wonder why they're wasting their time here when Stench is tanking so miserably.

(28,810 posts)to underestimate just how low the media will set the bar for romney. i hope i'm wrong about that. but seriously if he gets through it without yakking all over the podium or peeing his pants the corporate media is likely to call it a win for Romney. President Obama may get through it brilliantly, but all romney has to do is get through it.
i mean, i hope i'm wrong. i hope the corporate media has a fact checker with a bell to ring every time romney tells a lie, but i'm not holding my breath.

(12,158 posts)during the debate, and he'll sweat a lot, just like Nixon did in the Kennedy-Nixon debate. Romney will look nervous and fidgety. President Obama will be cool, calm, and very collected.
A widely told tale. But it's not quite correct.
There's no doubt that Kennedy looked better than Nixon that night. Wearing a dark suit and flashing his boyish smile, the junior senator from Massachusetts radiated charisma. Nixon, recovering from a knee infection and a cold, looked gaunt in his gray suit, which blended in with the walls, and sweat streaked his Lazy-Shave powder. "Fire the make-up man," Nixon's press aide Herb Klein was told by a supporter. "Everybody in this part of the country thinks Nixon is sick. Three doctors agreed he looked as if he had just suffered a coronary." Henry Cabot Lodge, Nixon's running mate, supposedly said, "That son of a bitch just cost us the election."

It's bound to be deja vu all over again when Romney tries to outdo Pres. Obama. That's what I think, anyway.
