The fact he has symptoms and they are serious enough to have him go to the hospital means his chances of death are no longer only 4% as many people who get it are asymptomatic or only have mild symptoms. So his chances of mortality at this point maybe more like 10% though he probably has about the best possible care in the country which bods well for him.
