I want it to be serious enough that he learns a lesson, and

issues a mea culpa and a better pandemic plan from this point forward. I want him to learn empathy and compassion. I want him to think about others and the consequences of his words and actions. (Probably a stretch given the narcissism and sociopathy, but it's my hope. I want him to somehow come out of this a better person, so that others might live.)

WTF should we care if he comes out of this a "better person."
With any luck, he isn't going to be making any decisions on how to better handle the pandemic, whether he dies or not.

And nobody really cares what we personally want to happen to Trump.

He will NEVER become a better person. If he survives, the only thing he will take away from it is that the virus isn't that serious and it's nothing worse than the flu. He will double down on everything he has ever said before and become even more defensive and hateful.

HE WILL NEVER CHANGE. Take that to the bank.

Those who know him, like Mary Trump, all say he's missing the internal mechanisms that facilitate positive emotions and genuine human connection.

He is simply incapable of empathy or compassion. Mary Trump presented a very convincing case that her uncle is not wired the same as most of humanity. He simply cannot be or do the things the OP suggests.

Just one more inconvenience among the many he's been rescued from over his entire charmed life. It would be further proof in his mind that he really is as fucking invincible as he thinks he is.

Alas, reality: for once, he's facing and adversary that he can't buy off, bully, or blackmail. And it WILL fuck him up, for the rest of his life. There is no cure for COVID, and he wasn't a healthy man going into it.

He won't learn a thing, he is a monster who is running a death cult, nothing matters but him... the others won't learn a thing either.. anyone who hasn't understood this after almost 4 years is just as delusional as they are.

I’ve seen people like this guy before. They won’t learn anything. They will twist the thing around so it leaves them still in the right, facts be damned. He will remain unaffected even through the loss of close family members brought about by his worthless decision process.

I simply do not have the time to spend on people like this.
