"Of course, we all hope and pray for a swift and full recovery."
There are, of course, many people with a kinder and more forgiving heart than myself, but what percentage of Democrats and non-Fox reporters ritually intoning this and similar mantras do you think genuinely feel this way?

(15,293 posts)...or who just don't give a damn how many people they hurt in pursuit of power and personal agendas.
If Trump dies from COVID, lives will most likely be saved, and a major risk to the continuation of democracy in this country will be removed. His life simply isn't worth that cost to other people's lives and freedoms he has wrought.

(15,293 posts)I admit that in this case, I personally do wish ill on Trump and many of his enablers. And I think it's justified. These people do way more harm than good, our country would be better off without them, and many other peoples lives and health and incomes and freedoms would be saved.

(15,293 posts)...it's a much better for the country for Trump to have explicitly been rejected by the voters, and then go on to face trial and punishment for his many crimes.
Even from the standpoint of vengeful thinking, I think that's more satisfying than Trump escaping the consequences of his actions via a relatively quick death.
On the other hand, since Trump either stealing the election, or causing massive chaos via an attempt to steal the election, is not something we can totally rule out at this time, Trump's death would have the advantage of providing us with an immediate guarantee that Trump will never serve as President again.
And while Trump's death wouldn't totally ensure an end to Republican electoral interference, I'm pretty sure the intensity of the effort would greatly diminish with Trump's death, since the Republican party is pretty much just a Trump personality cult at this point.
