Scenarios:
1. Everyone pulls through with flying colors, outside groups continue the negative ads (Lincoln Projects, etc.) while Joe looks like a gentleman even as Trump campaign refuses to do the same and looks boorish. Once Trump is "back", Joe restarts the few negative ads that he had, while Trump has to deal with all of the existing fallout. Biden hasn't stopped campaigning, and won't.
2. Trump gets seriously worse and dies. Biden looks honorable for having pulled the negative ads, while the GOP campaign goes into a tailspin.
3. Trump recovers but is seriously invalided, or two or three senior administration officials or senators die. Trump's credibility is shot at that point.

Biden wins by being seen as gentlemanly, honest, and honorable. He can attack Trump, but that actually weakens his position somewhat, and the fact that he was RIGHT about the Coronavirus will carry a HUGE amount of weight during the election.

It's easy to armchair quarterback here, but Biden knows what he's doing.
