maga neighbor: we started off looking for a baby snake out front that frightened her dog. Then we progressed to other mundane chit chat. THEN she started with if Biden gets in, he'll raise taxes, blah blah blah...

I countered, "Yeah on corporations mostly." Just heard John Defterios on CNN speaking from Abu Dhabi saying the next president/admin. will need to raise taxes bc of future bailouts, stimulus, etc. that undoubtedly will be necessary.

You would think that having cancer 2x already [still being treated] she would consider her life and be greatful for being sustained and stop spouting recycled rubbish heard from teevee, church, her family and acquaintances. I stay away as much as possible bc of not wanting to unpack the truth as I know it. Honestly, I came inside and was weighted down by our exchange. We start off with generic chat then it always devolves into politics. I had
4 1/2 years of this. I ask God to forgive me for limited talk with her but I need to save myself.

Bars and restaurants were closed in the center and in the center of Aix-en-Provence 33km north for a week, though here in Aix it looks like they're reopening today.

Friend in Amsterdam told us that virtually no people there are wearing masks.

We're about to get a second wave and there will be flu on top of that.

More trouble.

We visited the UK and France in the early 70's. So memorable. Step-dad's family in London burb and Sheffield. Family brought us to Scotland. Then Paris, Montmartre, Barbizon. Ooh la la. Glad we went when we did. Now this crapola dropped upon us all.

New cases in Spain, UK, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Russia etc. but Germany and Italy aren't rising nearly as quickly.

Does it all come down to wearing masks and distancing?

here in Switzerland.

The number of infections has risen significantly over the past month from 30,000+ to 50,000+, but we're still at fewer than 2,100 deaths.

I have been doing my own shopping since late June rather than having groceries delivered. That and walking or cycling are my only activities outside. Masks are required in all malls, stores and shops. There's lots of plexiglass and people are good about practicing social distancing. Of course, I always shop in the early hours as well.

The public pre-school/elementary school across the field from my apartment (I live in a semi-rural area) is holding in-person classes, with no infections so far. Fingers crossed!

All public transit is running on schedule. Again, masks are required.

Some activities that had been briefly opened, e.g., nightclubs and discos, have been closed again.

I agree that it comes down to wearing masks and distancing.
