Shakespearean level drama. The stage is set. The players are in the wings.
The King has gone mad. His family doesn't know what to do. His staff doesn't know what to do.
Sit on the edges of your seats this week. The action on stage will be fast and furious, and the dialog confusing and confused.
This play might well appear to be a comedy, but it will not end as a comedy.
Raise the curtain! Let the play commence!

It will be interesting to see how tonights townhall vs Trump leaving hospital is covered.
I bet the channels doing the townhall will be talking about Trump before and after and all the other showing Trump leaving. Its been like this since 2015 and we need it to end! I am sick of everyone jumping over themselves for this horrid person.

Without staff and enforcers, he's just going to be spinning his wheels and throwing tantrums for the next 7 - 10 days.
Will Johnson, Tillis, and Lee get back to the senate? Will Barr take himself out of quarantine?
Whatever happens, after he gets off the steriods, the crash will be truly epic. I don't doubt he will be catatonic by the 20th, permanent or not.

Cant be Julius Caesar. Can you imagine Drumpf yelling, et tu as McConnell and Graham stab him in the back?
Cant be Romeo and Juliet. Melodrama on the balcony, Donald, O my Donald, whyfore this prenuptial and non disclosure agreement?
Caligula in I, Claudius comes to mind but tragedy requires the audience to have some connection with the tragic hero at some point. Few people are that insane.
Cant be Hamlet or Othello because they actually had working brains. Left with the Scottish play.
Is Obama Banquos ghost? Jarvanka as Lady MacBeth?

(3,686 posts)Unfortunately, you are probably right, but what happened to half hour sit coms?
I like to read Shakespeare because I can take my time to parse through his lines to thoroughly enjoy and understand them. And, I can put him down when I need to. This drama is way to fast and fresh and leaves me more than uncomfortable.
Perhaps in 400 years or so it will be easier to read.

Every time I think I've begun to understand what is going on suddenly the plot changes and I'm floundering trying to catch up. I'm not even sure Shakespeare could make this drama worth watching if we didn't have to.
