THIS, by Rick Wilson, is genius:

"His elected enablers will lose, if not this cycle then next. Some will try to wash off Trumpism, but it's a combination of septic muck, stripper glitter, and authoritarian nationalism. "Donald Who?" will rise from their lips daily."

"---a combination of septic muck, stripper glitter, and authoritarian nationalism."

The man CAN turn a phrase!

during elections in the past, Rick Wilson was one of the most diabolical, vicious and unprincipled spokesmen for the Republican party.

It's good to have him on "our" side during this campaign..

but

EVERY LAST ONE of ‘em.

It’s nice that he’s - um - “on our side”. For now.

For now.

The test will come later, after trump, if people like Rick Wilson and others like him REALLY AND TRULY have seen the light, and have reformed. And have seen the error of their ways. And have renounced their earlier partisanship. And I don’t know yet whether that will be part of this.

It depends on what “true selves” their behavior displays after trump is no longer a factor. Do they go back to republi-CON business as usual now that “the coast is clear”? Or do they show genuine contrition and renounce their nogoodnik stuff? Do they the renounce the GOP and declare they want nothing further to do with the CONS?

We’ll just have to see, won’t we.

My husband would attest to an annoying habit I have now. Every time I see some GOPer or self-proclaimed “former GOP,” it doesn’t matter how witty or clever or fiery their rhetoric (lookin’ at YOU, Steve Schmidt), I snarl out loud “YOU BUILT THIS! YOU HELPED BUILD THIS!! YOU!!!

If you stood with this miserable excuse for a political party, if you didn’t bail out immediately and fight it with everything you got, if you hung around until it just finally got a little too stinky for ya (but you stayed loyal as long as you did) and you finally started writing editorials full of indignant rhetoric and going on TV, you STILL have a lot to answer for.

You still “got some on you” and you remain unclean. AND at least partially responsible for what’s happened. Your conscience and what’s left of your soul will have to carry these crimes for all eternity and answer for it all before whatever God you say you believe in and claim to worship.

Lady MacBeth whined “will nothing sweeten this little hand?” (After she got blood and sin and treachery and betrayal all over it, that is.) She, too, “built it.” Just like the Rick Wilsons and Steve Schmidts of America.

The Lady McBeth analogy is all too true.

for instance....

I like Nicole Wallace but every once in a while I see conservative dogma creep its way into her rants...

If the "grand ol party" do ies someday return, she and others like her will fall right back in line with a (hopefully) less insane standard bearer.

There will be very few of those, I suspect.

“All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.”

A carrion Death, within whose empty eye
There is a written scroll! I'll read the writing.
All that glitters is not gold;
Often have you heard that told:
Many a man his life hath sold
But my outside to behold:
Gilded tombs do worms enfold..."

ANYONE who has the mark of trump on their souls should NEVER be trusted. Lookin' at YOU, Nikki Haley. Lookin' at YOU, Mike Pompeo.

They stood by trump, worked for him, were happy to get big-shot jobs from him, carrying his administration forward as high-ranking representatives (she as UN Ambassador, he as Secretary of State). Nobody held a gun to their head and made them do it.

They think they burnished their resumes for higher office. I think they have a big black mark on their souls.

33. If they REALLY want to kill Trumpism at the root
Thu Oct 8, 2020, 12:35 AM

Rick Wilson, Steve Schmidt, and all the others @ProjectLincoln will turn their skills on the system that led to Trump, that permitted the likes of a Rush, O'Reilly, Carlson, Hannity, Piranha, Tomi, and Laura Ingraham to spew their unending bile.

THAT is the next step, along with defeating more Trumpers in 2022. They know that the country has become ungovernable because so many lies and propaganda have been presented as truth, reinforced by repetition, by seemingly dignified and respectable congress-critters, hoary newspapers like the Wall Street Journal, pundits from the American Enterprise Institute and other RW think tanks, as well as by FOX News and 1500+ conservative talk radio stations.

If it hasn't occurred to them, I'd be surprised. I don't want them to stop at defeating Trump and his enablers. They are part of what broke us and brought us to the edge of civil war, although they are real Americans enough to recognize our peril and step up.

Don't forget that they will be pariahs among their former friends and employers. It's a good time to build alliances.
