I was watching some of Frank Luntz and other alternative reviews, and they really hated Kamala's mannerisms. Out of everything that was said, that what stood out to them. Wow.

Of course, the problem mostly lie on men. But I've seen my share of women doubting/hating on women in powerful position as well.

Her favorables went to 63 percent. And undecideds? These people would ask for a chicken sandwich at In-N-Out.

(7,655 posts)liberal woman President. Sure the Shitkickers and their ilk would just hate it but this is 2020 and we are long overdue. If our civilization has a chance going forward it is imperative that we reject the GOP in all forms going forward.

(7,655 posts)as it appears. The GOP has a lot of undereducated folks that mean well but been easily mislead into believing that a "magic person" can solve all of their problems. Snake oil has been selling for a long time.

(2,807 posts)Republican men are completely terrified of strong, beautiful, intelligent women. And Republican women...well Republican women don't get to have an opinion. On anything. They just do what they're told.

(3,635 posts)There were one or two who said positive things like "compassionate" and "strong" but overall the group (which was not large btw and seemed to include clear Trumpers pretending to be neutral) was negative about her (and clearly sexist).
You can see the video, link posted below.
Luntz is a GOP'er and his focus group seems conservative and sympathetic to Trump. CNN also had a focus group and they were much more positive overall about Harris.

(14,565 posts)It is truly unbelievable how the female candidates are nitpicked for everything. I mean everything. After doing that from '98 through '06 in state and local races in Las Vegas I became convinced that a female should head the ticket only when the situational slant is severe in our favor. That applied to 2008. It was a devastating error not to nominate Hillary in 2008 to break through the gender barrier in a cycle with such tilt that any Democrat would have won. Instead we forced her in a 50/50 environment like 2016 which was actually worse than 50/50 given the right track/wrong track number, and midwestern unrest due to job loss.
It is worse than you think. Far worse. Anyone in denial toward misogyny is a fool. I remember watching Dina Titus dominate Jim Gibbons point to point in a gubernatorial debate yet everyone in my living room was chastising Titus for her accent and her hairstyle and everything else.

(53,056 posts)Not that I'm contesting 2008. I voted for Obama. Still, we missed out on Hillary. She would have been an excellent president.

(53,410 posts)At my age Ive gone through all that male insecurity stuff since I was a Feminist back in the day.
Women used to be taught to protect mens egos because, we were told, they were so fragile that we had to devote our lives to building them up. Im telling the literal truth.
Were done with it. We dont need to bother with that insecurity any more.

I have been pissed for more than 2 weeks at some of the idiotic shit men have said to me about stuff they think I shouldn't have an opinion about or know something about.
Was told to shut up by a man who I was not even speaking to. Hope he does it again soon... I kept my peace then but have decided since that the next fucker will be sorry!
The next one is gonna GET SLAPPED DOWN. Literally!

(1,737 posts)Many (including some women themselves) are stuck in a male chauvinistic, misogynistic mentality. They grew up in it and now it's their philosophy. They believe women should be seen and not heard. They believe women are subservient to men. They dislike female leaders. Men like Mike Pence who displayed utter disrespect to the women on stage, his mannerism would be perfectly fine to those people.

(3,635 posts)The problem with our presidential elections is that due to the Electoral College the president is chosen by moderate and independent white voters in swing states who don't really question social biases etc, and tend to be center-right if anything - and this holds back the country. If we went by the popular vote then more liberal and urban and diverse voters would play a much greater role in shaping how we are.
Katie Couric joined the conversation and did question them about sexism, some of their responses were interesting.
Note that this same focus group after the Trump-Biden debate was actually upset at Biden for calling Trump a clown/racist/failure etc and thought Biden was 'just as responsible' for the debate devolving. Some saw Trump as strong and Biden as weak and old, yet didn't see Biden as justified in defending himself. They seem to have a both-siderist worldview and tend to side with existing power structures.
Keep in mind that Luntz is a GOP pollster. The CNN focus groups (post Biden-Trump debate and post Harris-Pence debate) showed much better reactions for Biden and Harris, as well as the polls which showed that they won.

Pence was rude, obnoxious and condescending. How many comments have we heard about that? Other than from women, that is, women who put up with this crap day-after-day in their professional and private lives. Mother might find this okay but the vast majority of women? Not so much.

(106 posts)I don't get the supposed undecideds in the Luntz post-debate poll. Only explanation...they're undecideds...who overwhelmingly felt Pence won? He only won two things. Best hair for flies to live in and for talking long past the time limit...every time he spoke. They didn't like Kamala's facial expression...one which I'm sure many criminal types saw in the past. Of course they're not going to answer the packed court question, because it all depends how things play out. Other than that, one side answered questions calmly and clearly and for the post part finished completely in allotted time, and the other spouted lies...more calmly than his boss, but that's impossible NOT to do. Obvious winner was Kamala.
