You have helped make several firsts possible: By supporting me, you helped me recruit others to run so that we have a full ballot for the first time in over 25 years. You helped us with an incredible digital billboard and a mailer to EVERY SINGLE HOUSEHOLD in our county. We are busy holding rallies every Saturday at our largest citys busiest intersection. From all of these efforts, Im receiving messages of excitement and gratitude from locals to have Democrats to vote for. For those who dont live in red, rural areas that havent had any Democrats run for years, it is disheartening to go to the polls and only be able to vote for President or Governor but no state or local races you cant imagine how hopeless that begins to feel. But no more!! We will move us toward a more inclusive, just and equitable society by electing Democrats.
See all the artwork below.
This is not a plea for fundraising (at least not for me please donate to your favorite local, state or national campaigns if you can).
A special thank you to Omaha Steve for inspiring me to run, then helping with these posts, advice and so much more. Our DU family has a priceless jewel in Omaha Steve.
DU has been my haven, my family, my sanity in some of the hardest times in my life since I joined in 2003. I was literally curled up fetal-position after the election 4 years ago and was finally able to raise my head when our US Congressional race, which local TV and newspapers had called for the Republican on election night, had to reverse themselves and announce that after a record number of absentee votes were counted, our Democrat Xochitl Torres Small actually won. Then I got out of bed and went to DU to shake it off and start thinking about what to do next, among friends and fellow mourners.
We rise.

(4,113 posts)Our 'Cowboys for Trump' county commissioner is the one who said, "The only good Democrat is a dead Democrat" and Trump re-tweeted that...he also said anyone who supports BLM should go back to Africa. We need Democrats at the county level, too.
I'm not sure if it's gerrymandered...I've tried to check but to no avail

(4,113 posts)Canvassing is the best but were not able to do that during this Covid time so we had multiple discussions about what we CAN do. I hope other DUers run for office in the future and make decisions for their campaign

That disgusting commissioner and I had words over that horrific statement! I am surprised he still has ears.
Blessings to you and all the other Dems.

(4,113 posts)I NEVER thought I'd run for office...but 'watching' Omaha Steve helped.
I also suggest every DUer attend at least a few city, county, state legislature meetings (especially the committee meetings) and hear the Republicans talk...then you will realize we really could do a better job.

(19,204 posts)Can't wait. Only 24 days to go. You must be getting excited (and tired) as all heck. You've done a fantastic job in your area getting Democrats on the ballot and competing! Now go get those republicans. We'll be watching on election day, you can bet on that!

I adore NM, btw - is my favorite neighboring state. Was in Alamogordo about five years ago the last time. I can just picture the impact of the signs with the setting! So cool.
You do such good work! Keep it up! Thank you for the lovely thank you notes - the last one knocked me over. Here they are! The signs you wrote about. Gave me tears of joy, and that might be the only time thats happened in 2020. You are an inspiration.
