I am closing in on making the final burial arrangements for my father-in-law. He was true American Hero. He joined the CAF, before our entering the war, as a fighter pilot. After Pearl Harbor he joined the American Air Force and became a much decorated B-25 pilot in the Pacific. A very small, quiet, unassuming guy who went on to become a great husband, father, and father-in-law. As his wife deceased not long after him, their marriage having lasted 60 years, they will be interred together.
In every aspect he was the antithesis of the disgusting creature in the White House.
If alive today he would be saying to me "son, who the hell is flying this aircraft anyway?"
I will not see his kind again.

(15,265 posts)The unit was a marine air squandron that flew modified B25's (PBJ's) off of Iwo Jima. My dad wasn't a member of the air crew. I believe that he was designated as a "Heavy Machine Gunner". We lost him at 89 back in 2013.

(419 posts)We will never see such a great generation again, as evidenced by your father in law. Their hard work & sacrifice is second to none.
