Barack Obama broke the white people

[link:

?s=20|

I said it once and I'll say it again; Barack Obama broke the white people. Once he got elected with a coalition that demanded that power be shared, they decided that democracy was overrated anyway and that they'd rather die for white supremacy that live with equality.

To watch an attempt to delegitimize and overthrow a state government because of orders issued for the sake of public health is proof that this isn't about "freedom." It's all about not wanting to be told what to do by, or to protect the "others." These people are out of control.

At this point, I can't tell where the intellectual line is to separate violent anti-maskers from suicide bombers. They're both willing to recklessly inflict personal harm on themselves if it also means hurting their ideological foes.

nor are my friends and family that are white. This tweet is racist and seeks to divide people. We gain nothing as a society by shoving each other into these contrived boxes and defining other peoples hearts and minds by the color of their skin.

Wait. First, get down off your high horse.

THEN read the thread.

He is saying the GOP is so afraid of having to share power with black or brown people they would rather destroy democracy instead.

Also I don't really think it is possible for a black man to be racist when he is a victim of racism.

I am white. So are my friends and family!

And I agree with this guy.

I couldn't agree more. I thought it was clear that he was referring to the power structure that's been in place since our country's inception - namely, white men running the show.

Seriously, does anyone doubt that the reason racism has reared its head with a vengeance is because a black man was elected President? And then a woman almost came in right behind him?

As a closet liberal in evangelical circles, I witnessed the moral collapse of "nice" white people. It was fear-induced by radicalizers like Glenn Beck and Dr James Dobson. By the time Trump came along, easily capturing the evangelicals, the "I want my country back" fear was starving for Strongman Trump. The anticipation of rescue from multicultural America was palpable. In their defense, they didn't know they were being racist. They just believed the story about their imminent persecution, not realizing they were equating Christianity with Whitism.

Fear is a strong motivation. It's the root of evil, such that even greed is rooted in fear.

On the one hand, the perfect Republican president because he'll sign anything. From the book "Kochland": "the politics that Koch stoked in 2010 became the policies that Trump enacted in 2017." Koch in 2018: "we've made more progress in the last five years than I had in the previous fifty." Trump did everything the plutocrats wanted, while pretending to be a populist.

On the other hand, the monster is out of control, it is all rage, took the racism that gets Republican elected way too far and things have come to this.

apparently they don't like to be lumped together, based on the reaction here from just that first sentence. The audacity to suggest that white people do not want to give up their power, and status. One sentence...not even...just 'broke the white people', is too much to bear.

I'm a white people and I took no offense at all. Just none.

I'm so white the only dark part of me is my freckles. Even my hair is pale. But I read that tweet and assumed when he said "white people" he meant the trump supporters who hoped he would save them from the caravans of brown people he said were coming for them.

I'm white and I don't need anyone to explain that many white people love Obama. Because I love him.

I am sad that I caused offense but even sadder that people want to take a tongue in cheek comment the wrong way.

I'm white as well, but know exactly who he is talking about. For me, it's usually a tell when the term 'racist' is tossed around over the inability to appreciate context. It's sad. That one sentence, and it's off to the races...no pun intended.
