Democrats, especially white Democrats, should be careful when commenting about black people joining the Republicans. It makes a lot of people uncomfortable and, sometimes, angry. It was really controversial when Biden made the remark about whether or not someone was truly black if they were Republican. He had made a remark years ago about Republicans putting black people in chains. That one made people cringe as well. It's a very sensitive subject, and one clumsy comment can be turned into a big, racially-charged mess. It's best for Democrats not to say anything about black Republicans at all, especially of you're a white Democrat.

about it sense we're so close to the election and we have desperate Republicans looking around for anything at all to stir up shit about the Democrats. They would love to make a big deal out of this issue in particular if they think it will peel off some black votes.

I misunderstood. Only Trump would have a crowd of white people at an event for black voters. I guess he wanted to make sure the White House didn't get burned and looted, you know.

And, they were the sponsoring organization. They probably needed additional hat and tee-shirt fillers to fill out a crowd of any size pleasing to Herr COVIDhuffer.

I don't think Brooklynite meant that the Black attendees there weren't "authentically" Black. This was an event ostensibly FOR African Americans but it had lots of attendees who were not Black. At. All. As in White. Not questioning Black agency.

I can at least understand a black millionaire or billionaire who might lean towards being a mainstream Republican of the Eisenhower model, but many of these non-rich black repugs are mere opportunists who are looking out for themselves only. They see themselves as "different" from the rest of their people and also see a smaller competition pool to stand out in, and they will stand out in the mostly white republican party, than the larger and diverse Democratic Party.

It' s like Linday Graham said yesterday, blacks can do well in his state if they're conservative, which means we'll look out for you if you do our bidding (see Daniel Cameron).

They're looking for opportunity, not what's good for black people as a whole. I mean the repug party is a racist party. Why associate oneself with that?

on food stamps vote GOP. Well, I know that at least part of it is racially motivated. But why would someone choose to go hungry, or at least be stuck in an economic morass just to make other people unhappy? It's pretty sick when you think about it. But some aren't necessarily racist, they just don't understand which party stands for what. I explain it to some of them sometimes, but a lot of the time they still don't get it. Maybe it is best if some people just stay out of politics.

A racist brainstorm to send the PoC back to Africa hatched by, of course, old racist white guys.

BLEXIT harkens to that far more than any comment Biden has or will ever make.

and because of that it was forgotten about. If Obama had said the same thing it really would have been a big deal, but everyone knows Joe occasionally mangles his words.
