I hope it is not covid and that you feel better asap * pain in your back middle or right shoulder blade area can be a sign of pneumonia referred pain. Get a chest xray too.

When I had covid double pneumonia, the pain alerted me that it could be pneumonia. Unfortunately I was right. I thought it was bronchitis at first until the terrible pain. I never have that kind of pain with bronchitis. It started out with severe headache, joint pains, and low fever and runs for 1-2 days, which I thought was a migraine, then it went to my lungs after several days. I had no loss of smell or taste. The joint pains and headaches continued throughout as well as the low fever and other symptoms.

What I did- zithromax, vit d, high doses of C, lysine, zinc, lots of juice, humidifier, inhalers, pain killers, lidocaine patches, heat. I tried to walk and do breathing exercises but they made me worse although he breathing helped clear my lungs a bit, it was too painful. Lots of rest and sleep with 4 pillows, not on my side or stomach that made me worse. And I was on eliquis already. I ate and drank juice as much as possible, the pain was terrible if I didn't eat constantly.

both physically and emotionally.

I have had two similar bouts over the past month or so and am just now recovering from the second. I too have allergies and,as yourself, hoped to hell that was the cause. Or a cold or even the flu. It's kinda nerve racking alright.

Had a test during the first bout and it was negative. Considered going again for the second but thought what's the point as all I could do is keep on isolating even if it was positive.

BTW, I find gargling with warm salt water and, using one of those "neti-pot" devices to be very helpful.

Looks like in my case(s) it was not covid but I cannot help wondering why rigorous mask wearing, hand washing and isolating as much as possible did not prevent my contracting whatever it was i.e if it can't prevent catching a cold, how can it prevent catching covid?? Maybe it was just allergy flare ups after all (it is fall season and things tend to get worse then at least for me).

Your temperature is normal so that's a good sign. Hang in there - it's probably not what you fear. Can you get tested reasonably soon?

I am having a tough time with coughing, but I know it is allergies because as soon as I take a pill, I'm OK.

My poor little kitty, who has asthma attacks in the fall, is having a terrible time. I bought two new air purifiers to help out and I also vacuum a lot. I take any rug she or the other cats lie on and wash or at least tumble dry them to get any dandruff or dust out. The medication she has from the vet does help, but she still has this horrible congested sound sometimes when she breathes.

Me 10 days of horrific joint paint fever and stomach flu. Perfect O2 levels and NO COUGH

Until day 11 when my oxygen crashed and I found myself on hospital touch and go for ventilator. Fever completely went and all flu like symptoms. Except now my lungs were fighting for life. I was likely saved by remdesivir and dexamethasone which kept me off of respirator

I made it, but now I am facing all sorts of post hospital challenges

But the only part to listen to is test ASAP!

Didn't feel like eating, but I could still taste and smell things.

If you can, sleep in a recliner rather than flat in the bed.
Just in case it is Covid-19.

I had no idea I was helping myself at the time, but sleeping in a recliner greatly reduced the congestion.

The one night I slept in bed, I woke up in the middle of the night, coughing my head off, congestion much worse. When I finally got up the next day, my cough was 50% worse. I did not crawl back in that bed for a good two more weeks. I think I slept in the recliner for almost a month.

Keep a list of your symptoms, when they first appeared, along with any temperature readings. That will help your doctor.

Hoping for you that it is something a lot less serious.

I was aching so badly, and I could not get comfortable in bed. The only TV in the house is in the living room, where there are two recliners.

So I would recline in the recliner, and turn on the TV, in the hopes that it would somehow distract me enough to fall asleep. Sometimes it actually worked.

I swear the recliner is what saved me from getting a lot worse. I never knew about sleeping sitting up when you are having respiratory issues. Learned the hard way!

There is a book called The Chair and it covers the history of the chair. Long story short, the author, a scholar, says that recliners give us the "Z" shape for our bodies, which is better for backs, breathing, and all kinds of things. I have recliners, but I buy the kind that look like chairs since I don't like the look of them.

i got some weird kind of sick back at the end of feb.
i'm in classrooms around kids too

a very sick kid had been coughing on me. i would see him once a week and for that short time (2 x) in two weeks he seemed really sick. i remember touching his forehead and he was hot.

so i got a lot of the covid symptoms (but at the time i thought it was a weird flu--had aches and pains in my legs whenever i get flu). i felt hot but don't own a thermometer, had respiratory problems, sore throat, horrible cough, slept a lot, didn't want to eat, made myself drink lots of water, took my vitamins, had the runs for a day, and used my asthma inhaler a lot.

the big difference with the way i get hit with flu and whatever the fuck was going on with me in february was that cough. i'd never had anything like it before.

the cough lasted the longest. and it was harder to breathe so i kept sleeping sitting up but everything else didn't seem to last for more than two or three days.

i told my kid later: maybe i had covid.
she said: don't count on it and think you're safe now.

then came mid march and schools were shutting down, then the state shut down at the end of march.

i've never been tested for it.

glad you're calling the doc monday. ricola cough drops helped more than no cough drops. i might have used chloraseptic spray for the sore throat. that helped too.

take good care!

But, this will help you.
1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of baking soda. Place in a glass and add 3 ozs of warm tap water. Stir until clear. Then gargle for 30 seconds. DO NOT SWALLOW IT!
Spit it out.
Do this 2 to 3 times a day.
The PH level from the soda will be out of range for most viruses, even Covid, to survive and replicate.
Get well.

Oct 2020

You should consider deleting your post. This is not a sound preventative measure.
First cite:
https://apnews.com/article/8703572316
Now my view:
Sodium bicarbonate is a very weak ion. Unless it absorbs CO2 from air to transform to the divalent carbonate salt, the pH won't be much above 8, even at it's saturated solution point of 11-12% at body temperature.
A pH of 8 suggests insufficient ionic strength to cause the viral load to undergo saponification unless at very high temperature. (90°C minimum)
The hydrolyzing of the protein absent high temperature (at least 130°C) won't occur with a weak base like bicarb.
The RNA is nearly impervious to hydroxyl influenced cleavage unless the pH approaches 14, there is a stoichiometric excess of the strong base, and the temperature far exceeds body temperature.
Sodium chloride has essentially zero influence on pH because both anion and action have very high ionic strength and exist individually, with no inherent interdependence.
That does help reduce swollen tissues in the throat, but has zero influence on the virus.
Also...
Once in the throat, the virus is already invading cells. They are not at the surface, so the chemical attack you suggest wouldn't occur, even if the mechanisms existed.
Gargling (swallowing doesn't hurt either) with this mixture might reduce some localized inflammation by triggering cell diffusion, mechanically liberating water and shrinking inflamed tissues.
But, this solution will do nothing against the virus. The ionic activity is too weak to trigger such reactions.
This is not good advice as a viral prophylactic.

They will test anyone who is manifesting symptoms. Not all places have the same criteria for testing, so if one place tells you no, call another.

It may turn out to be allergies or strep like you said but I'd get the test anyway for your own peace of mind. Call a local clinic or Urgent Care. Describe your symptoms to them and why you think you may've been exposed. They may determine that you need a test and will schedule an appointment for you to come in. Call more than one place if you need to.

About a month ago my husband went to a barber he wasn't familiar with to get a haircut. His regular place that had followed all the guidelines, was closed and he was desperate. The new place didn't follow social distancing rules and he was the only one with a mask. This place also had a life size cutout of Typhoid Donnie that he wanted to punch, but I digress. They didn't hassle him wearing a mask but he had to take it off for several minutes so they could trim by his ears. Three days later he woke up with a sore throat, a low grade fever and a persistent cough. Later that evening I started feeling poorly. I had the sore throat, a mild cough and generally felt like crap. The following day we called a local clinic explaining our symptoms and got an appointment for the following day. Three days after we tested, they came back negative. It was probably just the weather change. A year ago we would've thought nothing of it but Covid changed all that.

the experience itself is bad enough, but then the possibility of Covid and worrying about it had to make it even worse. And all because some jerks couldn't be wearing masks! He saw the life sized cardboard cutout of Typhoid Donnie and now wishes he had. Our new dog likes to sleep with us and he'd gotten his paws tangled in my hubby's hair and kept pulling on it. That's the only reason he went to the barber. He said he was going to find another place that respects the rules. I'm also thinking of getting a trimmer for him and watching tutorials on YouTube. I haven't been to the salon since January and I've been cutting my own hair since July. Right before our scare I was thinking of going back. I'm glad I didn't. It took three trims for me to remove the split ends and the dead weight and at three inches shorter it finally looks decent again. It's curly so it's harder to cut but that also makes it easier to hide any mistakes.

Florida doctors found a coronavirus [treatment] that’s nearly 100% effective
https://bgr.com/2020/09/26/coronavirus-cure-icam-protocol-florida/#

“The ICAM protocol has the potential to trigger the reopening of the country,” Director of Pharmacy at AdventHealth Ocala Dr. Carlette Norwood-Williams told Fox 35. “We will know the next step after our outpatient study.”

The scientists have not yet tested their combination of drugs in a clinical trial to prove beyond any doubt that the treatment is safe and effective. But according to the researchers, ICAM therapy has yielded a 96.4% survival rate since April. It’s unclear how many patients have received ICAM, but Florida was one of the hardest-hit states in the US over the summer.

ICAM isn’t a new drug, it’s an acronym for a combination of existing medications used simultaneously on patients. It uses Immunosupport drugs (Vitamin C and Zinc), Corticosteroids against inflammation, Anticoagulants against blood clots, and Macrolides to help fight infection.

Vitamin C is widely used to boost the immune system against infections and might help prop up the immune system as it fights the novel coronavirus. Zinc also has a role in immunity, and the mineral rose to prominence during the height of the hydroxychloroquine controversy. Zinc was often associated with the anti-malarial drug and azithromycin in COVID-19 therapies. Studies have since shown that hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin can’t prevent COVID-19 complications or infections.

I remember a couple of articles back in the spring about how certain steroids prevented the cytokine storm that caused the worst conditions from the virus. This seems like a version of that

57. Do you have a pulse oximeter? If you are able to afford one (and can find one)...

...they are really good to have on hand. When I got COVID earlier this summer, I would regularly check my pulse oximeter reading, even more so than my temperature.
