(57,599 posts)I haven't looked into this, but it's possible that there was no ill intent, and that the pastor was trying to help people cast a ballot, not thwart them from casting a ballot.

It turns out I'm wrong.
The registrars office told KCAL9 they are trying to reach Pastor Cook and are working with counsel to issue a cease and desist letter. However, the drop box is already gone.
Other posts on the churchs website show it hosting a forum for Republican local candidates and criticizing the Black Lives Matter movement. With that in mind, some locals said they are suspicious of what the churchs intentions were with the box.

BALLOT CONFUSION: Some Canyon Country locals are concerned after a pastor at a local Baptist church posted a photo of an unofficial ballot drop box outside of the church, encouraging people to drop off their ballots there.
