BREAKING: Senator Susan Collins has doubts. "At this time I'm not certain that Judge Amy Cony Barrett is the right person to replace Justice Ginsburg. I hope that my colleagues in the Judiciary Committee will be able to alleviate my doubts."

(868 posts)but what remains unclear is whether she has a conscience,
self-respect as a human, or a spine. "But for the grace of God",
is now just another forgotten republican cliché.

Is she preparing another of her "learned his lesson" statements?
Vote Collins out.

(1,103 posts)to get her vote. She needs to something to take home to voters in Maine to try to win re-election.
Just my opinion, but we have seen this move from her over and over, we know how it plays out.
Come on Maine, vote her ass out!!

(1,004 posts)Constitution and judiciary, I am announcing my cautious vote to confirm Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court. I am confident she will impress us with her non-biased legal judgement." - Susan Collins, Oct. 24, 2020.

(13,783 posts)... in Maine, and I was yearning for moderate Republicans to bring sanity back to politics. But she permanently cut the cord for me when she said she though Trump would learn his lesson. I can't believe she's that stupid, so she shifted from sane to cynical in my mind. Irredeemably cynical.

She will vote the way McTurtle tells her to, like she always does. The only thing that could change that is for the vote to get scheduled right before the election, McTurtle has 52 votes solid, and releases Suzy Creamcheese to vote against Amy Phony Carrot to show how "independent" she is.
Please, Maine, don't fall for it.

(82,849 posts)Sen. Collins is quite sure that Barrett will learn her lesson. You know, just like President Trump did when she voted to acquit him during his impeachment "trial."

(8,759 posts)We've seen this with her before.
Ted Cruz and Rand Paul do the same thing. They'll have "doubts" fake some maverick move, grandstand a little, then at the last moment, vote on party lines.
She's really going to have "doubts" for a long as possible in the election because she's behind in the polls in ME and may lose her job.
That's the only reason I'd think she'd have "doubts" but possibly hang ACB in a disgusting attempt to save her Senatorial career.

Oh Sue... dont use Justice Ginsbergs name if you intend to soil it in a few days. Better yet, just dont say her name at all.
