Romney sends memo to CNN seeking to lower expectations heading into the debates

In a memo sent to CNN, longtime Mitt Romney adviser Beth Myers sought to lower expectations heading into next Wednesday's debate against President Obama.

Among the reasons: President Obama is "widely regarded as one of the most talented political communicators in modern history" and this will be "the eighth one-on-one presidential debate of his political career. For Mitt Romney, it will be his first."

She also suggested that Obama will "use his ample rhetorical gifts and debating experience to one end: attacking Mitt Romney."

What exactly does lower expectations mean? Could she be saying that he might be a no show? And I remember not too long ago when his party was coming on with the spin that because The Mitt has recently come off a myriad of primary debates, he stands to walk all over President Obama, because is mind is more limber.

If he doesn't want to show us his tax returns, then I guess there is no reason why he has to debate his opponent either. And all the while his campaign will continue to tell us that we should vote for him because he is trust worthy. You can't make this kind of stuff up. I think the script is being written for a movie about this election as we speak. The producers won't have to write one line or develop the plot in the least. Just tell it like it is happening and the audience will be rolling in the isles.

Upon edit to add para no. 2.

the media will say you held up well and won against the President. Sorry Mitt, you debated all through the Spring and beat Newt, Caine, Bachmann, Perry, Sanctimonium etc etc. You're a seasoned debater and we're expecting great things from you. President Obama hasn't debated in 4 years. You better wipe the floor with him otherwise you're a L-O-S-E-R!

But of course, he believes he deserves to cheat because the world is not fair to him.

Well, he's has the world bending to his wishes his whole life. Why should the presidency be different?
