There is a familiarity about this photo, and it could have been taken in many boardrooms around the world - men gathered around a table making plans and cutting deals.

But the lack of women here, among a group of conservative Republicans discussing their healthcare bill with the vice-president, struck a particular nerve.

That's because one of the points under discussion was whether the new bill should mandate that health insurance plans provide "essential benefits" including maternity services.

In January, the White House came in for some flak when President Trump signed an abortion order surrounded by men.

Especially women of childbearing age shackled to abusive men, who are ONLY valued for sex and babies. Especially young women trapped in families that are training them to be ashamed of their sexuality and sold off to a husband as soon as possible and told to live under his rule. Especially women who are poor. Especially women who are not white. Especially women who are lesbian or bi or trans. Especially women who are immigrants.
