Barrett is a rigid ideologue.

She has made it very clear all day, through her answers and through her body language.

What I have observed is that people, by that I mean judges and politicians, who are very rigid in their interpretation of religious text are also equally rigid in their interpretation of The Constitution. These are the originalist. They see challenge and change as very threatening to the order of their world.

Well they sort of do, but not with enough outrage and disgust imho.

She’s also incredibly intelligent and articulate. She’s way more dangerous than Kavanaugh.

Someone should tell her that saying I can't answer due to opinion doesn't fly when something is against the law.

And that’s why elections matter. Putting aside the question of whether a Justice should be nominated and confirmed in the midst of an ongoing election, President’s typically nominate potential justices based on them having agreeable ideologies. That’s one of the reasons why Ginsberg was appointed by Bill Clinton. In normal circumstances, the confirmation process should be premised on the qualifications to serve as a justice (or any conduct that could be disqualifying (i.e., Bork, Thomas, Kavanaugh)).

While Barrett may be a right-wing nutcase, it’s difficult to question her credentials. Unless there is some major skeleton discovered in a deep and dark closet, she is going to be confirmed. Hopefully, President Biden will soon be able to replace Thomas, who is incompetent.

a word I may have made up: someone who thinks corporations and rigid hierarchies are more important that individual views, freedoms, or protection.

We can make it so in January.

Put your legislators on speed dial.
