Was wanting to go this week wanting to know what kind of wait times to expect. I want to go now in case for some reasons I can't on Nov 3rd. You never know with covid and I'm voting like your life depends on it.

'Course, yesterday was a holiday
Most everyone I know is voting absentee.
Yes, I'm starting to get nervous.

(1,725 posts)Too high-risk, can't stand for more than 5 minutes at a time - bad back. And OLD.

I'm kinda in the middle... not handicapped, but low in energy - anemic right now, so I get out of breath easily. Just a mess right now! But I don't even use a cane, so not sure they would let me.
But... if that ballot doesn't come soon, I may have to risk it.

(68,637 posts)There's still time, not panicking yet, just really annoyed.
But good to know there's a Plan B.

(1,725 posts)The minute I get it, it's downtown for me to drop it in the ballot box!

(1,725 posts)... so I'm lucky, I'm watching every day for my very cool mailman!

(68,637 posts)and hour and a half or two hours. Standing can still be tough. So he was pulled out of line and we were allowed to sit down and vote inside...took a half an hour...may be more crowded on the weekend. I would get their early. Bring a chair, water and snacks. Also we had to wait until someone left to park.

(1,725 posts)So glad your hub could rest. That is rough. The last time I stood in a line for 2 hours was for the game 7 watch party at the Q in 2016. I had just gotten out of the hospital, very weak, but I did it, dammit!

(1,725 posts)I had a cool playoff package, every playoff game (season ticket holder). Then suddenly got sick in the 1st quarter of game 1 of Conf Finals against Toronto. Hospital - missed games 2 & 5, then games 3 & 4 against that team. Watched it all in ICU, then rehab. But I was out in time to go to game 6!
It was magic!
But another great night - Ring night! With the Tribe in game 1 of the World Series right next door - what a night!

(7,261 posts)could go vote in Summit Co (Akron).
It was a long line but it moved quickly. The whole process took about 2 hrs from beginning to end.
Interestingly, she said most of the people requested Dem ballots. Keep it up, Dems!
Hubby and I will be trekking to Cuyahoga County Board of Elections in the next few days to do our duty. I look forward to casting my vote for the blue ticket up and down the ballot. Hoping the wait time isn't any longer than Summit but it doesn't matter one whit as I will stay there as long as required. Good luck!

(4,701 posts)It matters that much to me that if I die before election at least I cast a vote against Trump

(44,974 posts)It's the primary where people can request a democratic or a republican ballot, not general election.

(7,261 posts)I asked DD about the conversation she had with the poll worker (watcher?) and she was referring to the primary. She told her that most of the early voters seem to be (D), yay. All I know is that everyone felt like a heavy load was lifted from their shoulders once they put their ballot in the tabulator, lol. And they shared their selfie outside the polling place with me that included my 2 kids, their spouses and 2 step grandkids who both voted in their first election this year as 18 year olds.
