General Discussion

spitefully tear down and burn what is left of our democracy, our traditions, our way of life?
Is there any doubt that many Americans will needlessly die between now and Biden's inauguration in January---because we have a maniac in the White House?
Is there any doubt that dozens of traitorous thugs---including Trump's kids, his cabinet, his campaign officials and assorted partners in his many crimes---will walk away smirking after Trump PARDONS them?
Is there any doubt that the period after he gets his ass kicked on November 3rd and before he is evicted in January will feature a "going out of business" sale of our classified information, our codes and the identities of our covert agents?
Do we really have to just sit and watch these outrages happen?
Are their no leaders---inside or outside the "conventional" political structure---who can focus our outrage and passion in a constructive and meaningful way to salvage our nation?

(19,264 posts)Voting takes care of it from Jan 20th onward. For most of us that is the limit of what we can do.
Removing Trump from office prior to Jan 20th is 100% absolutely impossible to do without the GOP. Impeachment or the 25th are your options and both require Republicans. It is pretty clear they aren't going to do anything.
Short of a military coup overthrowing the President in the next two months what would you suggest?

(15,124 posts)TRULY no way to "get to" several key Republicans?
Why should they be allowed peaceful sleep?
Why should they be permitted to appear in any public place without hearing a chorus of boos and hisses and cries of "SHAME!"?
Why should the not have to walk or drive through a gauntlet of pissed off citizens screaming ""WE'RE MAD AS HELL AND WE'RE NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANY MORE!"
Why should we not boycott---TOTALLY suspend doing any business with---any business that supports the McConnells and Grahams and their mob of spineless traitors?
The point is we need to DO something and I am the first to admit I don't have the experience or the chops to organize or lead that campaign.
But, I am willing to "go public" with my disgust and my fear and I am willing to risk my safety and I am willing to go to jail if I must.
Politics can no longer be a spectator sport.

I'd tone down the drama and stay off people's property. Vote.

(32,711 posts)For me, seeing a maskless, covid-19 positive "Senator" spew his germs all over the Senate hall yesterday let me know that there's nobody who will stop them. Nobody. And they know it. It's so disgusting.
I don't think any legislative body in any other country would have tolerated that. His ass would have been kicked. Even if it meant catching covid.

(7,017 posts)trump is a lost cause we well as the Senate who could have removed the super spreader anus lips during impeachment. Now by packing the courts they will destroy whatever that can before Jan. Then Biden will have to start from jump street to clean all the shit they left in the yard for four years.
