Trump, again, turns to the Supreme Court to fight subpoena for his tax returns

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump is, again, turning to the Supreme Court to keep his tax returns and financial records away from New York City prosecutors investigating possible hush-money payments during the 2016 presidential race.

The president's lawyers on Tuesday asked the justices to block a lower court's ruling allowing New York prosecutors to enforce a grand jury subpoena for Trump's tax records as part of the criminal investigation.

In addition to the alleged hush-money payments, Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance's office, which is seeking eight years of financial documents, has also indicated that prosecutors are looking at possible criminal activity at the Trump Organization.

Trump's latest move marks the second time his attorneys have asked the high court to intervene in the case. The Supreme Court last summer rejected Trump's claims he is absolutely immune from criminal investigations while in office. The court, though, sent the case back to the lower court to resolve other legal issues.

Every single thing, he's gotta make Supreme Court case out of it. What an odious bore. And crook.

Look at how many times he's blocked them.

I should think that a goodly amount of his crimes never made it into the tax returns...laundered money, illegal contributions, etc. He may not be that bright, but I'm sure he's street smart enough to hide most of his crimes.

When will a court say enough is enough? No wonder he wants Barrett onboard asap.

I have never been more disillusioned in our legal system. So you can just keep filing endless appeals one after the other until the end of time. Doesn't matter if it's already gone all the way to the supreme court before. Every time they rule against you just hit the reset button and file another one. How in the hell do we ever convict anyone of a crime in this country that requires a look at their records or taxes if this is all you have to do to prevent them from ever being seen? Damn, Al Capone must have had a shitty lawyer. How did we ever bust his ass for tax evasion?
