I like MSNBC but for this week outside of Joy & Rachelle (I wish I could quit yaw) I'm looking at CNN and cussing at Wolf a lot.
We don't need to proffer covid deniers or flat earthers for the sake of looking objective or give a platform to someone like Trump.
The "bothsiderism" here is that Trump is normal enough to listen to, he's not and has gone out of his way to prove this.
Trumps an admitted sexual predator and a racist criminal and should not be promoted in ANY way especially since he's part of nearly 40% of disinformation related to covid.
Fuck Trump

(12,712 posts)I think that this form of a creeping "relativism" is dangerous to the hierarchy of our nation's common values to the point of collapsing and therefore destroying the distinctions that rely on a clear relationship between values that we come to by both evidence and agreement on that.
The equivocation and distortions that serve any special interests or to consolidate power are now overwhelming that hierarchy in many ways and that is being accentuated now by both corporate and social media.
If we lose sight, collectively, of those substantial differences and the basis for reason and ethics, then we may continue to descend into increasing chaos. The voices of reason and logic are being drowned out and ignored to the point where everything becomes a relative truth. To illustrate, if everything is considered true in its own right, then truth itself is at stake. We make comparisons and associations that rely on recognition of values based on a scale of relationships. When the foundations of those relationships become confused and blurred, that contributes to an overall breakdown of a culture, in my opinion.
George Orwell's 1984 was a revealing thesis along those lines and bothsiderism and its companion, the deflections of whataboutism are axes be used to chop down the tree of knowledge, so to speak. This is perilous in the aggregate and you can almost see the dark, dystopian, totalitarian future being gestated with wild and reckless abandon, just on the horizon.
It is vital to recognize this trend for what it is first. Then, rather than being in a constant state of limbic reactions induced by the shock and awe of disaster capitalism, we can formulate a necessary response based on awareness of it.

(7,460 posts)No matter it be CNN or MSNBC or any of them. Biden with a landslide lead doesn't do much for their coffers so they need to get Trump back in what ever way they can.

(9,959 posts)... no Joy or Rachel, either. This is a bow to Trump and a disservice to voters.
