We all pretty much know who Amy Coney Barrett is.
I see such super-Catholics on my social media feeds pretty regularly because, well, I went to Catholic grade school and high school, and a lot of my old classmates either havent figured out that Im a filthy secular humanist or, to their credit, dont care.
And by super-Catholics I dont mean anyone whos more Catholic than me because that would include just about everyone. I mean people who care about blastulas and zygotes more than they care about kids in cages. Put a couple frozen embryos in an Igloo cooler and stash it in a holding cell at the border and maybe some of these folks would finally wake up to this administrations inhumanity.
So, needless to say, Barrett isnt exactly forward-thinking when it comes to LGBTQ issues. Unless the baseline were talking about is sometime in the early to mid-11th century.

(149,635 posts)I'd say he is more than doing that.
And he skewers so deftly that you hardly feel the blade.
He will make an incredibly great President. I just hope I live to see that day arrive.

(7,418 posts)While there were several notable candidates -- Harris really impressed me during the Kavanaugh hearings -- I told anyone who asked that Mayor Pete was my favorite. Not that I thought he had the best shot at the nomination but that he was the one I liked the most.
He's only enhanced my fondness for his cogent and incisive talents with his open admission that he is a secular humanist. That takes a steel spine in the United States as it is traditionally a death sentence in electoral politics.

Without Roe, we go back to wire hanger days.
Without the ACA, we go back to 40,000 deaths of working-class Americans each year because of no health care. This includes $1 million caps on services received. Easy to reach with out of control costs.
If the election is won through the courts again, Trump gets another term of mayhem and mass murder.
