* OMG - the next milestone is almost upon us - EIGHT MILLION confirmed cases. Just look at this number: 8,000,000. HORRIFYING!!! And the case numbers move faster than the death toll does, so we WILL get there soon. Assuming we average 50,000 new COVID cases every day, we'll hit the eight-million mark before this weekend. Probably sometime tomorrow, assuming that rate of increase.

Sorry the info reporting has been so sketchy here. I haven't seen as much of the regular tracking numbers when I've been tuned in, and other stuff's come up so I'm not tuned in 24/7. And other news takes over - for example, the Amy Coney Barrett hearings have pretty much overtaken all other reporting on all other stuff.

with 20 days left, the numbers on election day will be 9,000,000 and nearly 240,000 (almost 1/4 of a million) dead.
