Why is so many in this country not caring for their fellow citizens?

Hearing people that have been interviewed about the virus and saying that they will go on acting like it's not out there. Basically saying "So what" about how deadly it is.

Many are even saying that God will protect them and that if it's their time, well....
They don't get that they could be killing others with their actions.

This virus is still an unknown. We are having to learn about it on the fly. Just wear your masks, social distance, and don't go out for nonessential reasons. But so many don't want to.

The rest of the world has been doing it. They seem to have no problem doing it. Heck they have been able to get to see sports games again! All because they have been doing what was needed.

What the heck is wrong with our fellow citizens!

The reporter said, "If President Trump said you should wear a mask, would you?"

Immediately she replied, "Yes."

They care only about Trump. So weird.

sociopaths and, if so, why? Is it cultural or is it our poisoned air, water and food and other chemicals in the environment? It used to be said that about 3% of the population was sociopathic, but look just at the Trump administration. The number seems awfully high nowadays.

the author posits that there are no more sociopaths born in the USA than anywhere else in the world. The difference is in the culture.

Other cultures that are more empathetic and community centric, the young sociopath may be educated by the elders to conform for the better. In the USA, there is no such culture. It is every man for himself, and the rugged individual is celebrated, so the sociopath reads this as a free pass to proceed in a corrupt way.

In other words, even if one is technically born without a soul, one can be acculturated to care. Think about Mary Trump's book and her assertion that Donald Trump was born into a sociopathic hothouse.

The clean air act, clean water act all passed in 1970. The figures just don't support your theory.

It appears that most have not been here for more than one or two generations. We all used to have much more in common than we do these days...no matter what region we came from. Even in the south with its generational racism was evil but felt different. Maybe it has been always just beneath the surface. Still, the people I grew up with, white black, Jewish, Asian, Native American, and Hispanic are all in contact with each other in FB and we still share most of the same attitudes we grew up with. We were all friends and if there were prejudices they were kept under cover because the parents were all friendly and the kids got along just kids would..some scrapes and fisticuffs but nothing long lasting. I grew up just outside of Philly in a mixed working class suburb. There were differences to be sure but nothing like today. And in school there was no intolerance among the kids and that was from elementary school through high school. That's why we still have over 200 FB contacts going. It just puzzles me about how things are now.

The Mf45 supporters I know complain about how hard their childhoods were and they were on their own after they turned 18.

One person i knew was shocked that after college I lived with my parents until I got married and when I divorced I moved back in with my parents until I saved enough to get on my feet and get My own apartment. He is a major mf45 supporter who was kicked out when he graduated from high school and fended for himself. In some ways he still struggles in life and his finances and always blames Minorities and liberals for his problems. And he has no girlfriends.

And the deaths in the United States happened because we didn't take precautions. The rest of the world is doing better than us hands down.

Take a look at these numbers in this CNN report.
https://www.cnn.com/interactive/2020/health/coronavirus-maps-and-cases

Authorities in 215 countries and territories have reported about 38.4 million Covid‑19 cases and 1.1 million deaths since China reported its first cases to the World Health Organization (WHO) in December.

A huge chunk of the population love to get under people's skin by saying and doing things that normal people regard as selfish and just plain fucking stupid. Reminds me of Eric Cartman from the TV series South Park: "I do what I want!" Fucking imbeciles.

you combine the two, they don't care about their fellow citizens. It's not new for them. It's always been that way with them. Look at health care. It's the same with them with health care. As long as THEY have THEIRS, they "don't want their taxes to pay for anyone else's health care".

They are selfish to their very cores. And they love their selfish leader who validates their own selfishness.
