.... but I just signed up again to work outside a polling place in central Ohio.
Please if there is a God send me some proud and or Boogaloo boys.
I have been doing this since 2004 and I know they really can't do shit outside of being arrested. Nobody can talk to a voter within 100 feet of the door and nobody can obstruct a voter outside the 100 foot line but hopefully it will all be over prior to election day. It will be tough but we are going to turn Ohio a nice shade of blue this year.
Btw I have 100 pound lab who is a sweetie but she is very protective of me too. I think she might be sitting with me.
we can do it

(10,247 posts)I had a 100 lb black lab, very nice but had a really impressive bark. I remember walking him in town one time and a bunch of punks gathered on the sidewalk. I walked right thru the middle of them, they let me pass without comment.

(34,092 posts)The law says the poll workers must place the flags at 100'. They tend to place them at the street - which is often well over 100'.
The law also says the those engaging in electioneering have to stay outside of the flags.
So - when the poll workers incorrecly place the flags, technically all that can be done is to call the board of elections and make the poll workers move them. Not a top priority on election day.
The ironic thing was the year I encountered that, it was the Republican team who had measured off 100' (with the flags at about 300'). We were standing on opposite sides of the driveway (inside the flags) when the pollworers came out and asked the dems (only) to move.

(34,092 posts)While the location of the flags is mandated - the location of the flags is what governs where electioneering can take place. Legally, people hading out voter guides, etc. must stand behind the flags (not >100ft, but behind the flags).
That's why your 100' string won't do any good - and you'll have to get the board involved to move the flags if they pitch a fit about where people are standing.

(11,949 posts)They hope the talk of it will scare people from voting.
There are hundreds of polling places in big cities and the police will not allow goons to try to intimate voters. Even if they are there, city people will tell the to fuck off.
Certainly not a problem in Florida. Open carry is illegal here. They arent doing shit if they cant carry their guns. Someone will kick their ass.
