Democrats, Facing Critical Supreme Court Battle, Worry Feinstein Is Not Up to the Task
Ms. Feinstein, 87, has slowed in recent years and limited her public profile, leading some Democrats to wonder if she can lead them through a consequential confirmation process.

Either Senator Whitehouse or Senator Klobuchar needs to become the Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

I am truly shocked at what Senator Feinstein said and did.

The simple fact is Feinstein is not currently capable of aggressively responding to the GOP tricks. She needs to retire.

On edit: actually, now that I see the videos, I kinda' take back what I said:

* Her reference to "bi-partisan legislation" might be a veiled reference to increasing the size of the federal judiciary, including SCOTUS. However, she could have referenced how bad rushing this through is/was as her main point.

* She didn't hug Lyin' (and sweaty) Lindsey. He came to her and hugged her, while she only stuck her hand out.

I still think Whitehouse or Klobuchar would be far more effective as the D head of the SJC.

They are clearly hugging, not just shaking hands (which also wouldn't be a good idea because of covid).

Lyin Lindsey was the "hugor"; DiFi just wanted to shake hands (which she shouldn't be doing anyway!)

I'm not justifying, but the video gives additional context.

28. How is bipartisan legislation a veiled reference to increasing the size of the courts?

If anything it is veiled reference to her belief that should NOT happen.

Feinstein has said the filibuster should remain and it is a good thing. Also that the courts shouldn't be expanded.

There will be no bipartisan legislation in expanding the courts. Not a single Republican will vote for it. NOT A SINGLE ONE. Feinstein likely won't either so we need an even bigger win in the Senate.

30. Not so sure about that

Just last month, she said this about the issue. If there is something more recent, my apologies. What other legislation would she possibly be talking about? "Bipartisan" was probably sardonic.

California Sen. Dianne Feinstein has not ruled out the possibility of expanding the Supreme Court if Republicans fill the late Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s seat before the November election, she said in an interview Monday.

Some Democrats are urging that path if President Donald Trump loses to Joe Biden in November, but manages to fill Ginsburg’s seat. That would give conservatives a 6-3 majority on the Supreme Court, shaping years of decisions from the high court.

Feinstein, the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, said the concept of adding seats to the nine-member Supreme Court was new to her.

“I hadn’t heard of it before, so let me take a look,” Feinstein said. “No one has ever told me that that’s a reality right now.”

“I think the hypocrisy, candidly, of what Republican leaders said is consequential,” she added, when asked what Democrats would do to fight the eventual vote. “And I think it should be met.”

The rest of your post though, is simply unsupported by objective evidence-- which is less 'fact', and simply editorial (you do realize the difference between the two ,yes?).

Good job of coat-racking, though.

Can you point out some instances where Feinstein could be described as aggressively combating the Republicans during the hearing?

Here is an example of some effective questioning by Democratic Senator Sheldon Whitehouse:

exclusive club to which we do not and never will belong. Senators are more interested in 1) holding on to their seats and 2) having support of their 'colleagues' for initiatives which send money in their state's direction. For all the cheap TV sound bytes clashes we thrill to during the 6:00 news they have far more in common with each other than they ever will with any of us. The name of the game is (and always has been) "go along to get along" and all of them play it very, very well.

Democratic Senators have done 1000x more for the public than the Republicans. No similarities between the two AT ALL.
