I voted!

Small suburb of Memphis. I was voter #261. Not sure if they start counting each day or if it is a rolling total.

Everyone had masks on, but it was easy to spot the repuke verifying IDs. Mask under nose with a face shield on.

Also mailed ballot for another person. So 2 in today in non-competitive shithole red TN.

I drove the mail-in ballot to post office where PO Box is for election commission.

Interestingly, one of the first 5 digits of zip code was wrong. Could not find USPS with that zip code, so I called election office.

Of course I got the typical "nobody else has asked..."

I double checked with man at USPS & he said they use a different zip code (one of 1st 5 digits) for PO boxes.

Seems like repuke rat fuckery to me! I'll be monitoring receipt & acceptance of ballot!

Man working at USPS looked me dead in the eyes & said "I definitely plan to vote in person." Very pointedly as if he would like to say more, but couldn't.

As we have discussed on DU previously, USPS can no longer hand postmark ballots. Man said "it will be done by machine in Memphis where election office is. (Addressed to this suburban location, so why would it even go to Memphus postal facility???)

So, instead of trusting that precious blue vote to dejoy's dystopian nightmare, I asked the nice worker to print me a postage tape instead of a regular stamp.

He said, "that's a good way to get around that!"

It felt SOOOOO good to get votes in! I have been worried that covid would kill me before I got to vote.

Steady line of voters. 15 in line ahead of me, 2 workers checking photo IDs. Took about 10 min. Total.

I was fortunate to be able to drop mine at the county registrar where the ballot would be mailed anyway.

I feel a little less stressed now that I have it done and over with. I just hope that the vast majority of ballots will be counted and that they create a blue tsunami like never before.

Good that you got it done with plenty of time before end date which is three weeks from now. If it can't get there by then, there's something hinky going on.
