It's a poll of All Americans, and a bit of an outlier, but worth posting since the 538 average is now Joe +10.7, this is about as much of an outlier as yesterday's IBD/TIPP poll was at Joe +7.7.

(52,286 posts)Republicans disenfranchisement is effective. In a proper democracy, They wouldn't stand a chance.
So they do a lot of things to make the pool of likely voters more to their liking.
Absolutely criminal. The legitimacy of government flows from we the people. But in the republican world, it's the other way around.
Everyone should get a vote.

(19,095 posts)Step 1, make the first Tuesday in November a National Holiday.
Step 2, come up with a national elections commission that drives fairness into the states. This one is tricky.
Step 3, incentivize voting! A tax credit/penalty for voting or not voting. Even if you choose not to vote there's a form to pick up at the polls for your tax credit. Nothing huge, but say $50 if you vote, $50 penalty if you don't vote (or show up).
If we get voter participation up the Republicans will be forced to change or never be in power again.

(52,286 posts)voting is an inalienable right, this goes back to the taxation without representation concept.
no government should be able to take away the right to vote, other than to transfer it to another jurisdiction when you move.
some federal agency, perhaps social security, should provide free, voluntary id cards to anyone who wants one to help counter voter id restrictions. i say voluntary so people don't go crazy about national id concerns.
the federal government should provide transportation services to help with voting in places where states are creating long lines. take the money out of the highway funds allocated to that state.

(56,828 posts)I didn't see the actual poll that has Biden 51 and Trump 36 in there? It seems more a trump approval poll

(19,095 posts)I don't see it either, but that's what 538 is reporting.

(14,856 posts)... and saw a bunch of SurveyMonkey online polling crap, with Biden's lead not as big according to them compared to most others.
Not sure why 538 keeps using them. I'm pretty sure they've leaned pretty strongly Republican in the past like Rasmussen, and that was according to 538!
Plus those polls have been depressing lately for Ohio.

(102,331 posts)At least 538.com clearly indicates, even if one has to know to "look"for it.

(19,095 posts)538 weights polls based on LV/RV/All and based on how recent they are, sample size, and their rating. It's a data point. Just like the new IBD-TIPP poll out this morning showing Joe by only 5 is a data point.

(20,718 posts)14 points is too far when his winning margins in 2016 were to close to the edge. And economy is supposed to be his ace in the hole, as it were.
