Trump's Town Hall Is So Bad That He Got Compared To A Crazy Uncle

Trump’s town hall has been such a nightmare that at one point, he was compared to a crazy uncle when he refused to denounce QAnon.

Savannah Guthrie asked, “While we’re denouncing, let me ask you about qanon. It is this theory that Democrats are a pedophile ring and that you are the savior of that. Can you once and for all denounce qanon in its entirety?”

Trump answered, “I just don’t know about qanon.”

Trump dodged, “I don’t know. I don’t know. You tell me all about it, let’s waste a whole show, you start off with white supremacy, I denounce it. You start off with something else. Let’s go. Keep asking me these questions. Let me just tell what you I do hear about it is they are very strongly against pedophilia and I agree with that, I do agree with that.”

Guthrie, “But there’s not a satanic cult being run by — ”

Trump, “I don’t know that.”
Guthrie, “You don’t know that?”

Trump, “And neither do you know that. Why aren’t you asking me about antifa?”

Trump ranted about imaginary antifa, and Guthrie asked, “Just this week you retweeted to your 87 million followers a conspiracy theory that Joe Biden orchestrated to have S.E.A.L. Team 6 killed to cover up the fake death of bin laden. Now, why would you send a lie like that too your followers?””

Trump, “That was a retweet. That was an opinion of somebody. And that was a retweet. I’ll put it out there.”

Guthrie, “I don’t get that. You’re the president. You’re not someone’s crazy uncle who can retweet whatever.”

The “crazy uncle” retort went viral. Then, half of Twitter erupted in laughter when Mary Trump reminded us, by tweet, that YES. He is SOMEONE’S crazy uncle.

the reason she is not asking about antifa is because trump’s fbi did not identify it as a threat compared to qanon which it labeled domestic terrorist organization. And she should have stated so for the viewers. Instead, trump continues to deflect and give roots to imaginary antifa.

10. Correction. It is not Trump's FBI. It is our FBI. Yes the president is in charge ...

as the president is in charge of the administrative arm of the government, but the FBI is staffed by professionals from all parties and ideological backgrounds which is why they typically do not fly from conspiracy to conspiracy.

Also Antifa is not imaginary. It is certainly not an organized "gang" like right wingers make it out to be. It isn't a secretive, highly coordinated, violent organization. Antifa is made up of a very loose affiliation of local organizations that typically activate when fascism affiliated groups like the Proud Boys, Partriot Prayer, and others are set to march. They are real but not the fever dream depiction given by Trump and right wingers.

Paraphrased, “I don’t know what this Qanon is. I’ve had people explain it to me I still don’t get it”.

Well then you’re dumb. It’s not a hard concept. It’s just total bullshit.

Mary Trump takes issue with Savannah Guthrie telling the president, ‘You’re not like someone’s crazy uncle’

Not only did Mary Trump write the book on her uncle, she also typed one of the best tweets to come out of President Trump’s Thursday night town hall.

During his discussion with host Savannah Guthrie and guests at NBC’s nationally televised get-together, the president attempted to distance himself from the crazy conspiracy theories he frequently tweets, including a retweet this week suggesting U.S. Navy SEALs had been duped into killing an Osama bin Laden lookalike in 2011.

“You’re the president — you’re not like someone’s crazy uncle who can just retweet whatever!” Guthrie contended.

When former Hillary Clinton adviser Phillippe Reines reached out to Trump’s niece Mary for a “rebuttal” on Twitter, she simply replied “Actually...”

that Trump SHOULD NOT ACT like someone's crazy uncle. Imagine if President Obama or Candidate Biden were going around talking about the Illuminati or saying that 911 was an inside job. They would be pilloried because they are not being responsible and tempered like a President SHOULD be.

A big swath of his cult members got pissy and ditched it after about 20 min... too painful to watch. Like a fav football team down 40 points in the first quarter.

Then they all took to the tweeter to cry "woe is me", "life is so unfair" and "I'm just gonna go eat worms".

I feel bad for them all. Really, I swear.

In the back-and-forth over the Qidiots, she at least reached the point where she called Trump out for his irresponsible actions; that doesn't happen very often if at all: "You're the president. You're not someone's crazy uncle." Joe Biden made the same point in his town hall, that the president's words and actions matter because people look to the president for leadership. Donald Trump has repeatedly failed to lead, more than 200,000 Americans are dead of the coronavirus, and we have people openly saying that they think there's some infernal cabal of child traffickers engaging in ritual sacrifice of children. Meanwhile, those very same people are wholly unconcerned with the refugee children being held in concentration camps set up by the Trump administration.
