(115,805 posts)Hillary hasn't actively practiced law in decades and has never held any position as a prosecutor or other government lawyer. That position needs someone who knows the ins and outs of the federal legal system and has actually worked within it. Sally Yates, the former acting AG, or Preet Bharara, the former US Attorney for SDNY, would be good candidates. Hillary would not. (Same with Obama for Supreme Court. I love him but not for that job.)

(14,628 posts)I want our new AG to go after Trump and his criminal cabal. If Hillary Clinton is AG, it will seem political.

(115,805 posts)Making an appointment of a person who isn't well-qualified for the job (and probably wouldn't want it anyhow) just to make opposition heads explode is not good strategy.

(131,042 posts)I don't intend/seek to see 'trump world' implode; There are more important matters to attend to.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,805 posts)and when Trump loses their heads are going to be exploding anyhow. Choose the best, most qualified person, not one who'll stir up unnecessary controversy. Yates would be an excellent choice, and there are others who have worked in main DoJ or as US attorneys, and who actually know the job.

(34,136 posts)That would reassure the world that the US is returning to a sane administration.
I would not be surprised if Hillary Clinton is not interested in any office, no matter how much she might approve of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. She may be fed up with being a target. I would not blame her at all.

(4,131 posts)No. We appoint people based on their qualifications. We have many people who would be more qualified as Attorney General.

(15,325 posts)Though I see her in a more single issue driven goal.
Like leading a global alliance on Human rights.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,805 posts)as one of the many junior researchers on the Watergate investigation team, but she hasn't actively practiced law since the '70s. By "qualified," though, I mean significant, recent experience as a high-level federal prosecutor or other government lawyer, such as a state AG. There are many people who are far more qualified than she is and who also don't carry so much political baggage.

(15,325 posts)I see her as more the WOMEN & CHILDREN's RIGHTS Global Ambassador.
She Brilliant af, she knows the laws, the leaders, the barriers, the funding, the corruption , and she knows the fix for it all.
This has been her signature mission dear to her heart since she stepped into politics.
And if ever there were a time to build back better, the Human Rights for the vulnerable & exploited, It is now.
And 1st Lady & Sec of State Hillary R Clinton is the woman for that mission.
Thanks Hillary ~💙🍃

(5,232 posts)As a contemporary of many mentioned for appointment here, I hope Biden doesn't appoint any of them. Let's make the party for the future. Give the young, fresh people in the party a chance to shine. We've seen Hillary enough. Fienstein, Schumer and Hoyer also need to step aside. New ideas and methods are needed! Biden can oversee it all and be a wonderful President.

(15,345 posts)I want some 27 year old LGBTQ woman, raging progressive whose parents both lived into their hundreds and gives Lindsey Graham the vapors.
Then, I want the below to fill out the remainder of the 5 seats added to the Supreme Court
- Mayor Pete
- Katie Porter
- Letitia James
- Stacy Abrams
And....I want all 5 of them appearing before the Judiciary Committee and voted on in the senate at the same time.
If the Retrumplicans wail and gnash their teeth, this should be the response:

(115,805 posts)Mayor Pete (whom I adore) isn't even a lawyer. How about appointing people who are actually qualified instead of choosing them on the basis of how much they'll piss off the GOP? There are many federal judges who are highly qualified and actually have done the job of judging, but they aren't politicians so we haven't heard of them. The Supreme Court isn't supposed to be political; the GOP have made it so but it shouldn't be, and the people chosen for it shouldn't be politicians.
