White House: Tennessee mask mandate 'must be implemented'

https://news.yahoo.com/white-house-tennessee-mask-mandate-233347497.html

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The White House quietly told Tennessee early this week that “a statewide mask mandate must be implemented" to curb its growing spread of COVID-19, strong instructions that the White House and governor did not discuss publicly before the report emerged in a records request.

The Oct. 11 state report for Tennessee, where Republican Gov. Bill Lee has let counties decide whether to require masks in public, first came to light in a records request by WUOT-FM. The Associated Press obtained the report from the Knox County Health Department afterward.

"A statewide mask mandate must be implemented to stop the increasing spread among residents in rural and urban areas of Tennessee," the item in a list of recommendations states.

How long before tRump tweets that his followers need to liberate Tennessee? Republican governor or not.
He's getting more loony by the day.

Governors can and should mandate wearing masks without getting pushback from the Covid Carrier in the Oval Office or the threat of being kidnapped by his RWNJ worshippers.

tRump followers are the most boring, predictable, yawn inducing bunch. They take after their dear leader.
Nothing original. They're still stuck in the 1800s. They're either trapped in the Civil War era, the Jim Crowe days or the Wild West and they glorify it all while worshipping a pretend billionaire because they can't understand the difference between a reality show and reality.

I recently visited my mom for the first time since January 2020.

I was shocked by the sheer numbers of non-mask wearing COVIDiots in TN.

My Democratic friends take extra precautions, but it is frightening to be surrounded by people who act as if there is no danger.

to figure it out.
I'm continuing to perceive myself as a mostly sane person but keeping an open mind. Either I'm nuts or they are. Trying to apply logic to events from 2015 till now just doesn't work for me.
When I begin to doubt my own sanity I think about the babies still locked in tRump Kinder-Konsentration-Kamps and that puts it all into perspective.

It is a dystopian dream and it isn't ours, that's for certain.
I know it will take a lot of work once this is all over, but I'm looking forward to waking up and knowing there will be millions of us working to Build Back Better along with a new administration that will do all it can to see that happens after Nov 3.

My elderly mom doesn’t go out very much. My non-college educated, Republican sister lives with her, but, thankfully, my sister, who works in a non-mask wearing place, wears a mask and socially distances within the home.

They're blind to what's happening but believe they see.
My sister, the person I thought I knew so well, is one of the people who just cannot see what's happening.
I've accepted it now. The reality that nothing I say, no facts I present can change her mind. Nothing that happens with this administration will change her vote. It's as though she is unable to see or unable to accept what's right in front of her.

I know people like this too!

Marie Louise von Franz tells us that when there is a disagreement, facts are presented & 1 side digs in, it is 100% projection. (From Projection and Re-Collection in Jungian Psychology: Reflections of the Soul: Reality of the Psyche Series - free right now with Audible trial on Amazon!)

Along with his followers, she sees something in tRump and his ideology that the rest of us can't see.
She's not a person who would go to his rallies, wear a red hat or t-shirt but when it comes to his values, his words and his policies, she somehow disengages.
She's very religious and does believe that tRump has been sent here to save the world because that's what her church teaches and she is unquestioning regarding doctrine or even the opinions of pastors.
It just goes to show that people can grow up in the same family and see things so differently. There's less than 1 year age difference between us so it's not like we grew up in different decades.

Informing her that religions:

Are sociopolitical control mechanisms;

That every single major one denegrates women?

That heaven & hell are human constructs; or

That there is no old man on a cloud?

Guessing this wouldn't work either.

So sad.

She likes to think of herself as open minded about religion. For her that means she will listen to the thoughts of others about it and actually agrees on some points. For example, she agrees that her religion denigrates women. She also believes it's God's will that the man comes first in relationships and has the final say in decisions, even when they're not wise one. I'm not understanding how someone can hold both of those beliefs but that's part of the mystery, I guess.

We've discussed every item you mentioned through the years. She sees me as lost and needing salvation. She doesn't preach but she's confident she's doing the right thing by her beliefs and her support of tRump.

She really was upset with me and aghast that so many of us were marching for the first Women's March after his election. She had no idea why anyone would do that.

Did you ask her what you need "salvation" from, or for? (I've never felt guilty for having been born. Lol)

So sorry.

"Hmm. I'll have to look into that." She hasn't taken my word for any of it but neither has she looked it up for herself.
Because she believes tRump is part of the grand plan to bring about the second coming, that's all that matters.

It still amazes me that siblings can grow up in the same family and end up with such different perceptions of the world around us. One of life's mysteries, I guess. I've accepted it now and don't puzzle over it as much. I finally realized I wouldn't be able to make sense of it in a million years. So why try?

Yes, Neanderthals. I'd just read an article saying those with this bloodline, genetically are likely predisposed to more challenges with severe covid. You can imagine where my mind went...
